• And when Moses returned to his people, angry and disappointed, he said, “ What an awful thing you did in my absence. Did you forsake the commandments of your Lord so hastily ? ” And he threw down the tablets ; and he took hold of his brother’s head, dragging him towards himself. He said, “ Son of my mother, the people have overpowered me, and were about to kill me ; so do not allow the enemies to gloat over me, and do not count me among the unjust people. ”
  और जब मूसा क्रोध और दुख से भरा हुआ अपनी क़ौम की ओर लौटा तो उसने कहा," तुम लोगों ने मेरे पीछे मेरी जगह बुरा किया । क्या तुम अपने रब के हुक्म से पहले ही जल्दी कर बैठे ?" फिर उसने तख़्तियाँ डाल दी और अपने भाई का सिर पकड़कर उसे अपनी ओर खींचने लगा । वह बोला," ऐ मेरी माँ के बेटे! लोगों ने मुझे कमज़ोर समझ लिया और निकट था कि मुझे मार डालते । अतः शत्रुओं को मुझपर हुलसने का अवसर न दे और अत्याचारी लोगों में मुझे सम्मिलित न कर ।"

• And the mountains will move away with an awful movement.
  और पहाड़ उड़ने लगेंगे

• The sects among them differ: but woe unto the disbelievers from the meeting of an awful Day.

  जो कोई प्रभुत्व चाहता हो तो प्रभुत्व तो सारा का सारा अल्लाह के लिए है । उसी की ओर अच्छा - पवित्र बोल चढ़ता है और अच्छा कर्म उसे ऊँचा उठाता है । रहे वे लोग जो बुरी चालें चलते है, उनके लिए कठोर यातना है और उनकी चालबाज़ी मटियामेट होकर रहेगी

• Yet different groups differed among themselves. How awful it will be for those who have rejected the truth when a dreadful Day arrives!
  किन्तु उनमें कितने ही गिरोहों ने पारस्परिक वैमनस्य के कारण विभेद किया, तो जिन लोगों ने इनकार किया उनके लिए बड़ी तबाही है एक बड़े दिन की उपस्थिति से

• Whoso disbelieveth in Allah after his belief - save him who is forced thereto and whose heart is still content with the Faith - but whoso findeth ease in disbelief: On them is wrath from Allah. Theirs will be an awful doom.
  जिस किसी ने अपने ईमान के पश्चात अल्लाह के साथ कुफ़्र किया - सिवाय उसके जो इसके लिए विवश कर दिया गया हो और दिल उसका ईमान पर सन्तुष्ट हो - बल्कि वह जिसने सीना कुफ़्र के लिए खोल दिया हो, तो ऐसे लोगो पर अल्लाह का प्रकोप है और उनके लिए बड़ी यातना है

• Allah hath sealed their hearing and their hearts, and on their eyes there is a covering. Theirs will be an awful doom.
  अल्लाह ने उनके दिलों पर और कानों पर मुहर लगा दी है और उनकी आँखों पर परदा पड़ा है, और उनके लिए बड़ी यातना है

• And when Our clear revelations are recited unto them, they who look not for the meeting with Us say: Bring a Lecture other than this, or change it. Say: It is not for me to change it of my accord. I only follow that which is inspired in me. Lo! if I disobey my Lord I fear the retribution of an awful Day.
  और जब उन लोगों के सामने हमारी रौशन आयते पढ़ीं जाती हैं तो जिन लोगों को हमारी हुजूरी का खटका नहीं है वह कहते है कि हमारे सामने इसके अलावा कोई दूसरा दिन के अज़ाब से डरता हूँ

• Then the two went forth until, when they embarked on the boat, he made a hole in it, whereupon Moses exclaimed:" Have you made a hole in it so as to drown the people in the boat ? You have certainly done an awful thing."
