Your Shape, Your Shade

We all want to look good, isn't it? And so every brown girl out there is trained to apply everything possible and constantly torment her face with all those fairness creams and turmeric face masks to get herself of bit closer to whiteness. Every fat boy out there is instructed to starve himself as skinny chaps can get those perfect abs more easily. Every carefree girl is told to use all the available products to get herself shiny and long hair. Every simple boy is taught to apply hair wax to impress that girl he admires. Every badass girl is refused to get tattoos as it would ruin her appearance. Every sensitive guy is asked to get some wounds and marks as a symbol of machismo and power.

That auntyji pondering in vain that Kajol looks prettier after her fairness treatment. That uncle telling you to walk and stand in a particular way to look more like a man. That every random person telling you to do this and that to look even better. Girls doing everything they can to get pink, rosy lips and cursing themselves for not having a nose as sharp as a knife. Men lathering themselves with products behind shut doors cause apparently, it's girly to showcase your insecurities.

Stop telling a girl to get a perfect hourglass figure. Stop telling a boy to get a well built and muscular body. Stop demanding her thick and dark brows, fine eyes with long eyelashes curled up. Stop demanding him for broad forehead, almond eyes and perfect features. Stop forcing her to exercise to get a figure eight and that gap between her thighs. Stop forcing him to exercise to get those strong biceps and cool jawline. Stop asking her to have treatments to get rid of her blemishes. Stop asking him to apply gels to get rid of his acne. Stop telling her to fake tan and get slimmer. Stop telling him to put sunscreens to prevent any further sunbath. Stop asking her to attain some height for finding a suitable groom. Stop telling him that he won't get a girl if he continues to get taller.

Tell her that waxing is HER decision. Tell him that gymming is HIS decision. Tell them to accept not only milky white but chocolate brown as well. Tell them that sipping tea does not make you any darker. Tell them that fairness does not mean success. Tell them that your body is only yours, not a property of people around. Tell them that it's YOUR SIZE, YOUR SHAPE AND YOUR SHADE.
