  तुमसे लोग शराब और जुए के बारे में पूछते हैं तो तुम उन से कह दो कि इन दोनो में बड़ा गुनाह है और कुछ फायदे भी हैं और उन के फायदे से उन का गुनाह बढ़ के है और तुम से लोग पूछते हैं कि ख़ुदा की राह में क्या ख़र्च करे तुम उनसे कह दो कि जो तुम्हारे ज़रुरत से बचे यूँ ख़ुदा अपने एहकाम तुम से साफ़ साफ़ बयान करता है

• This is the Blessed Book that We have revealed to you,, that people with understanding may reflect over its verses and those with understanding derive a lesson.
  किताब जो हमने तुम्हारे पास नाज़िल की है बरकत वाली है ताकि लोग इसकी आयतों में ग़ौर करें और ताकि अक्ल वाले नसीहत हासिल करें

• And they cry for help there,: Our Lord! Release us ; we will do right, not that we used to do. Did not We grant you a life long enough for him who reflected to reflect therein ? And the warner came unto you. Now taste, for evil - doers have no helper.
  और ये लोग दोजख़ में चिल्लाया करेगें कि परवरदिगार अब हमको निकाल दे तो जो कुछ हम करते थे उसे छोड़कर नेक काम करेंगे क्या हमने तुम्हें इतनी उम्रें न दी थी कि जिनमें जिसको जो कुछ सोंचना समझना हो खूब सोच समझ ले और तुम्हारे पास डराने वाला भी पहुँच गया था तो चखो क्योंकि सरकश लोगों का कोई मद्दगार नहीं

• Had We wished, We would have surely raised him by their means, but he clung to the earth and followed his desires. So his parable is that of a dog: if you make for it, it lolls out its tongue, and if you let it alone, it lolls out its tongue. Such is the parable of the people who deny Our signs. So recount these narratives, so that they may reflect.
  यदि हम चाहते तो इन आयतों के द्वारा उसे उच्चता प्रदान करते, किन्तु वह तो धरती के साथ लग गया और अपनी इच्छा के पीछे चला । अतः उसकी मिसाल कुत्ते जैसी है कि यदि तुम उसपर आक्षेप करो तब भी वह ज़बान लटकाए रहे या यदि तुम उसे छोड़ दो तब भी वह ज़बान लटकाए ही रहे । यही मिसाल उन लोगों की है, जिन्होंने हमारी आयतों को झुठलाया, तो तुम वृत्तान्त सुनाते रहो, कदाचित वे सोच - विचार कर सकें

• And suck from all fruits and flit about the unrestricted paths of their Lord. A drink of various hues comes out of their bellies which contains medicine for men. In this is a sign for those who reflect.
  उनमें अपने छत्ते बना फिर हर तरह के फलों चूस कर फिर अपने परवरदिगार की राहों में ताबेदारी के साथ चली मक्खियों के पेट से पीने की एक चीज़ निकलती है जिसके मुख्तलिफ रंग होते हैं इसमें लोगों की शिफ़ा है इसमें शक़ नहीं कि इसमें ग़ौर व फ़िक्र करने वालों के वास्ते

• And He it is Who spread the earth and made in it firm mountains and rivers, and of all fruits He has made in it two kinds ; He makes the night cover the day ; most surely there are signs in this for a people who reflect.
  आयतें तफसीलदार बयान करता है और वह वही है जिसने ज़मीन को बिछाया और उसमें अटल पहाड़ और दरिया बनाए और उसने हर तरह के मेवों की दो दो किस्में पैदा की वही रात से दिन को ढाक देता है इसमें शक़ नहीं कि जो लोग और ग़ौर व फिक्र करते हैं उनके लिए इसमें बहुतेरी निशानियाँ हैं
