  जब वे तुम लोगों के पास आते है तो कहते है," हम ईमान ले आए ।" हालाँकि वे इनकार के साथ आए थे और उसी के साथ चले गए । अल्लाह भली - भाँति जानता है जो कुछ वे छिपाते है

• O apostle! let not those grieve thee that hasten after infidelity from among these who say with their mouths: we believe, yet their hearts believe not, and from among those who are Judaised: listeners to falsehoods, listeners to anot her people who come not unto thee ; they pervert the words after they have been set in their places, saying: if that which is given you be this accept it, but if that is not given you, beware. And whosesoever temptation Allah Willeth, thou shalt not avail him against Allah in aught. These are they whose hearts Allah would not cleanse ; theirs is humiliation in this world and theirs shall be in the Hereafter a mighty torment.
  ऐ रसूल! जो लोग अधर्म के मार्ग में दौड़ते है, उनके कारण तुम दुखी न होना ; वे जिन्होंने अपने मुँह से कहा कि" हम ईमान ले आए," किन्तु उनके दिल ईमान नहीं लाए ; और वे जो यहूदी हैं, वे झूठ के लिए कान लगाते हैं और उन दूसरे लोगों की भली - भाँति सुनते है, जो तुम्हारे पास नहीं आए, शब्दों को उनका स्थान निश्चित होने के बाद भी उनके स्थान से हटा देते है । कहते है," यदि तुम्हें यह मिले, तो इसे स्वीकार करना और यदि न मिले तो बचना ।" जिसे अल्लाह ही आपदा में डालना चाहे उसके लिए अल्लाह के यहाँ तुम्हारी कुछ भी नहीं चल सकती । ये वही लोग है जिनके दिलों को अल्लाह ने स्वच्छ करना नहीं चाहा । उनके लिए संसार में भी अपमान और तिरस्कार है और आख़िरत में भी बड़ी यातना है

• Her love for her husband is not at all diminished by her husband ' s infidelity.
  उसका पति प्रेम पति की पत्नी द्रोहिणी परदारासक्ति के बावजूद रथ मात्र भी ऊना नही होता ।

• And know that verily among you is the apostle of Allah. Were he to obey you in many affairs, ye would surely be in trouble but Allah hath endeared belief to you and hath made it fair - seeming in your hearts, and hath rendered detestable Unto you infidelity and wickedness and disobedience. These! they are the men of rectitude.
  और जान रखो कि तुम में ख़ुदा के पैग़म्बर हैं बहुत सी बातें ऐसी हैं कि अगर रसूल उनमें तुम्हारा कहा मान लिया करें तो तुम ही मुश्किल में पड़ जाओ लेकिन ख़ुदा ने तुम्हें ईमान की मोहब्बत दे दी है और उसको तुम्हारे दिलों में उमदा कर दिखाया है और कुफ़्र और बदकारी और नाफ़रमानी से तुमको बेज़ार कर दिया है यही लोग ख़ुदा के फ़ज़ल व एहसान से राहे हिदायत पर हैं

• And that he might know those who played the hypocrite. And it was said unto them: come ye, fight in the way of Allah or defend. They said: if we knew it was to be a fair fight We would surely have followed you. Nearer were they on that day to infidelity than to belief. They say with their mouths that which is not in their hearts and Allah knoweth best that which they conceal.
  और इसलिए कि वह कपटाचारियों को भी जान ले जिनसे कहा गया कि" आओ, अल्लाह के मार्ग में युद्ध करो या दुश्मनों को हटाओ ।" उन्होंने कहा," यदि हम जानते कि लड़ाई होगी तो हम अवश्य तुम्हारे साथ हो लेते ।" उस दिन वे ईमान की अपेक्षा अधर्म के अधिक निकट थे । वे अपने मुँह से वे बातें कहते है, जो उनके दिलों में नहीं होती । और जो कुछ वे छिपाते है, अल्लाह उसे भली - भाँति जानता है

• It is not for such as join gods with Allah, to visit or maintain the mosques of Allah while they witness against their own souls to infidelity. The works of such bear no fruit: In Fire shall they dwell.
  यह मुशरिकों का काम नहीं कि वे अल्लाह की मस्जिदों को आबाद करें और उसके प्रबंधक हों, जबकि वे स्वयं अपने विरुद्ध कुफ़्र की गवाही दे रहे है । उन लोगों का सारा किया - धरा अकारथ गया और वे आग में सदैव रहेंगे

• Verily those who have purchased infidelity for belief shall not hurt Allah at all, and theirs shall be a torment afflictive.
  बेशक जिन लोगों ने ईमान के एवज़ कुफ़्र ख़रीद किया वह हरगिज़ खुदा का कुछ भी नहीं बिगाड़ेंगे और उनके लिए दर्दनाक अज़ाब है

• And recall what time We took your bond and raised over you the Tur, saying: hold fast to that which We have vouchsafed unto you and hearken. They said: we hear and we disobey. And into their hearts the calf was made to sink because of their infidelity. Say thou: vile is that which your belief commandeth you, if ye are believers.
  और जब हमने तुमसे अहद लिया और तूर को तुम्हारे सर पर लटकाया और जो हमने दी है मज़बूती से लिए रहो और सुनो तो कहने लगे सुना तो हम इसको मानते नहीं और उनकी बेईमानी की वजह से बछड़े की उलफ़त घोल के उनके दिलों में पिला दी गई उन लोगों से कह दो कि अगर तुम ईमानदार थे तो तुमको तुम्हारा ईमान क्या ही बुरा हुक्म करता था

• Seek ye to question your apostle, even as Musa was questioned afore. And whosoever changeth belief for infidelity, he hath of a surety strayed from the even way.
  या तुम चाहते हो कि अपने रसूल से उसी प्रकार से प्रश्न और बात करो, जिस प्रकार इससे पहले मूसा से बात की गई है ? हालाँकि जिस व्यक्ति न ईमान के बदले इनकार की नीति अपनाई, तो वह सीधे रास्ते से भटक गया

• And that He may know the hypocrites. And it was said to them, “ Come, fight in the cause of God, or contribute. ” They said, “ If we knew how to fight, we would have followed you. ” On that day they were closer to infidelity than they were to faith. They say with their mouths what is not in their hearts ; but God knows what they hide.
  और मुनाफ़िक़ों को देख ले और मुनाफ़िक़ों से कहा गया कि आओ ख़ुदा की राह में जेहाद करो या हटा दो तो कहने लगे अगर हम लड़ना जानते तो ज़रूर तुम्हारा साथ देते ये लोग उस दिन बनिस्बते ईमान के कुफ़्र के ज्यादा क़रीब थे अपने मुंह से वह बातें कह देते हैं जो उनके दिल में नहीं होतीं और जिसे वह छिपाते हैं ख़ुदा उसे ख़ूब जानता है
