To the one who has never left my side,

Sister.

The word sister is small and not even a mouthful to pronounce, but it means something a whole lot more. Because she's someone who's never going to leave you.

I had always thought that having an elder sister is way too good. And I got to experience that goodness in class 1 when I entered my Extra-Curricular Activities class. I could see you sitting on the last bench of the small room with your friend and with a keyboard in front of you. I don't remember what song you had played, but I do remember the way you had played because that made me look up to you and want to play just like you.

We weren't that good of friends in the beginning. I remember a few days not even talking to you. We would sit in two different places, play our instruments as our teacher told us to and then leave. But now? I can't even think of going a day without talking to you. Oh, how time changes!

I still remember the time when we lost touch. We would only give a small smile to each other if our paths crossed. I don't know how or why this out-of-touch thing happened, but it did. And if I am being honest, it didn't hurt much at that time. Maybe because we weren't as close as we are now. Then one day, I finally called out to you. I had gone to school after a break of many days and I was standing in the corridor with nothing to do. There you were, going up the stairs and I called out to you from behind. I was a bit hesitant at first because I didn't know if you would remember me but boy was I wrong. You did remember me and the smile you gave me just made my day.

From that day began a beautiful friendship. When this friendship changed into sisterhood, I have no idea. Maybe it was those late-night calls, the sharing secrets, going to each other first when something bad or good happened, comforting each other, making each other laugh and staying by each other's side that changed the dynamics of our relationship. And I am really glad that this happened.

I have written several letters to different people but this one's for you. You deserve a letter for everything you have done for me.

Thank you for everything, sis. For all those talks, advises and help. Thank you for listening to me when you didn't even have to and for believing in me when I didn't. Thank you for lending me an ear and a shoulder to cry on whenever I required. Thank you for being my sister from another mother.

I know now's a stressful time for you, especially with all your exams and stuff, but in the corner of my heart, I hope that this letter from me helps you. Even if it's a tiny bit.

And never forget, I believe in you too.

A truck-load of love,

Your sis,

Oindri.

P. S. Also, thank you for helping me in history, otherwise, I am sure, I would have failed!
