  अल्लाह कि जिसके सिवा कोई पूज्य - प्रभु नहीं, वह जीवन्त - सत्ता है, सबको सँभालने और क़ायम रखनेवाला है । उसे न ऊँघ लगती है और न निद्रा । उसी का है जो कुछ आकाशों में है और जो कुछ धरती में है । कौन है जो उसके यहाँ उसकी अनुमति के बिना सिफ़ारिश कर सके ? वह जानता है जो कुछ उनके आगे है और जो कुछ उनके पीछे है । और वे उसके ज्ञान में से किसी चीज़ पर हावी नहीं हो सकते, सिवाय उसके जो उसने चाहा । उसकी कुर्सी आकाशों और धरती को व्याप्त है और उनकी सुरक्षा उसके लिए तनिक भी भारी नहीं और वह उच्च, महान है

• Then, after sorrow, He sent down upon you safety. slumber overtook a party, while another party cared only for themselves, thinking of Allah thoughts that were not true, the guess of ignorance, saying: ' Have we any say in the affair ' Say: ' The entire affair belongs to Allah ' They conceal in themselves what they do not disclose to you. They say: ' If we had any say in the affair we should not have been killed here ' Say: ' Had you stayed in your homes, those of you for whom slaying was written would have come out to their beds so that Allah might try what was in your chests and that He will examine what is in your hearts ' And Allah knows the innermost of the chests.
  फिर इस शोक के पश्चात उसने तुमपर एक शान्ति उतारी - एक निद्रा, जो तुममें से कुछ लोगों को घेर रही थी और कुछ लोग ऐसे भी थे जिन्हें अपने प्राणों की चिन्ता थी । वे अल्लाह के विषय में ऐसा ख़याल कर रहे थे, जो सत्य के सर्वथा प्रतिकूल, अज्ञान का ख़याल था । वे कहते थे," इन मामलों में क्या हमारा भी कुछ अधिकार है ?" कह दो," मामले तो सबके सब अल्लाह के हैं ।" वे जो कुछ अपने दिलों में छिपाए रखते है, तुमपर ज़ाहिर नहीं करते । कहते है," यदि इस मामले में हमारा भी कुछ अधिकार होता तो हम यहाँ मारे न जाते ।" कह दो," यदि तुम अपने घरों में भी होते, तो भी जिन लोगों का क़त्ल होना तय था, वे निकलकर अपने अन्तिम शयन - स्थलों कर पहुँचकर रहते ।" और यह इसलिए भी था कि जो कुछ तुम्हारे सीनों में है, अल्लाह उसे परख ले और जो कुछ तुम्हारे दिलों में है उसे साफ़ कर दे । और अल्लाह दिलों का हाल भली - भाँति जानता है

• Allah! There is no god but He, - the Living, the Self - subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth ? He knoweth what before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme.
  ख़ुदा ही वो ज़ाते पाक है कि उसके सिवा कोई माबूद नहीं ज़िन्दा है सारे जहान का संभालने वाला है उसको न ऊँघ आती है न नींद जो कुछ आसमानो में है और जो कुछ ज़मीन में है उसी का है कौन ऐसा है जो बग़ैर उसकी इजाज़त के उसके पास किसी की सिफ़ारिश करे जो कुछ उनके सामने मौजूद है और जो कुछ उनके पीछे है जानता है और लोग उसके इल्म में से किसी चीज़ पर भी अहाता नहीं कर सकते मगर वह जिसे जितना चाहे उसकी कुर्सी सब आसमानॊं और ज़मीनों को घेरे हुये है और उन दोनों की निगेहदाश्त उसपर कुछ भी मुश्किल नहीं और वह आलीशान बुजुर्ग़ मरतबा है

  जो चीजें सामान्य मन के सामान्य अनुभव से परे की है पर फिर भी उसके क्षेत्र के अन्दर आती हैं वे सभी उसे स्वप्नवत् प्रतीत होती है ; परन्तु जब वह उस सीमा - रेखा पर पहुंचता है जिसके आगे की चीजें उसके क्षेत्र से सर्वथा परे की होती हैं, तो वह सत्य को स्वप्नावस्था की भांति भी नहीं देख सकता, बल्कि निद्रा की शून्य बोधहीनता और अग्रहणशीलता में पहुंच जाता है ।

• Then after the setback, He sent down security upon you. slumber overcame some of you, while others cared only for themselves, thinking of God thoughts that were untrue—thoughts of ignorance—saying, “ Is anything up to us ? ” Say, “ Everything is up to God. ” They conceal within themselves what they do not reveal to you. And they say, “ If it was up to us, none of us would have been killed here. ” Say, “ Even if you Had stayed in your homes, those destined to be killed would have marched into their death beds. ” God thus tests what is in your minds, and purifies what is in your hearts. God knows what the hearts contain.
