Facebook has become an essential part of our lives. We simply cannot rule it out or ignore it. No matter how hard you try Facebook has latched itself onto us like a spirit. Mark Zuckerberg trieddoing something else but ended up achieving something else. Facebook has damaged us in ways we cannot even think of. It was supposed to be a medium of exchanging thoughts and connecting with people across the world. But now, it has gone way beyond our control, an uncontrollable phenomenon which is only affecting our mental health.

A mere “like”, “comment” and “share” has put us in a position where we can only think of the number of likes our pictures get and the friend requests we receive, the more the merrier! But is that so? Statistical reports show that “Facebook Login” and “facebook.com” are the two most searched terms. With each and every passing day it is getting more and more involved with our lives, in a way that we cannot escape it.

It’s a free world and hence we have our “right to speech” whereby we can speak what we want to and this is completely misused on Facebook. People do not think of other's feeling or sentiments and end up writing things that are rude and demeaning. A constant exposure to such remarks can make one feel extremely low. Apart from that it has given way to a number of cyber crimes. But even after such a scenario, people cannot really keep away from Facebook.

Facebook has faced many criticisms in the recent past that has led to a lot of debates and discussions. The most prominent one being Facebook users' data being compromised and scrapped. Zuckerberg addressed to this by saying that , they did not do enough to stop this destructive act from happening. The question arises, are we really safe? Is Facebook doing anything to keep us safe?

Billions of people who use Facebook are in danger and we don’t even realise that. A social media platform that has become an addiction and an obsession. It is taking us downhill and creating problems in each of our lives. People want to look good on Facebook and want attention that they crave for in the form of “likes”. It has made our lives miserable and we don’t retaliate back because in a way, unconsciously we are enjoying it. The real side of people is getting hidden under the filters of self loathing. We should sit back and take a moment to think, are we really doing the right thing? There’s nothing that we cannot do, if we try we can get over our obsession with Facebook. A better and healthier life can be achieved and that is only possible if we can eliminate Facebook from our lives.
