“No young man believes he shall ever die.”
-William Hazlitt.
Everyone grows older as the time passes. No one wants to but they do. The time leaves no one out of its clutch. Each and every one of us has to die. There’s no exception, the exceptions are limited to life only, and death has its own rules.
We all are born crying into this world as if telling the whole world that I don’t want to come here but still we do because that’s how it is meant to be. We grow up, even though we would love to trade our adulthood for the childhood that we all spent dreaming of the adulthood. The excitement of the life that we are not living is always the highest. The day when you don’t want to live the life other than your present is the moment your downfall begins, because present becomes the new past.
Old age welcomes people with open hands but humans being the adamant creatures they are fail to embrace the open invitation and try to resist it. The resistance from the humans even when they are in the grip of old age results in choking up of that person. The result is the unhappy and sulking life that we see in most of the people.
No, those people are not fools. Not at all, they are just living a different life than required. We need to accept the growing up to act like a grown up. We don’t leave our childish tendencies till we accept the fact that we are grown up. Unfortunately, the society is hell bent on making a child realise that he or she is grown up even before they actually are. Result is children acting up as grown up.
The thing that no one tells you on time is that you are turning old. Even when someone does, we tend to ignore the hurt that comes with the ring of truth in those words. We fool ourselves and ignore the indications. The result is ignorance of the treatment or therapy for your knees which would have had kept them working even in your old age. Those who listen to these silent grumblings of their life and change their schedules accordingly are the ones who tend to achieve not only a longer and healthier life but even more important – happier death.
Death is inevitable and so is life. You only have the option to choose whether to enjoy it or suffer it.
