The debate is basically an argument or a serious discussion about some issues or some topics at any public places. If we consider debate as an official or governmental term then it is something that happens in parliament where any party discusses the issues or problems and its solution too but the opposition party comes against it and opposes it bluntly. But debating in parliament and debating in any competition is two different things, but the same process. There must be some team, one is in favor of the topic and the other is in against.
The first step is the introduction. If you are debating then don't forget to introduce yourself first. It happens many times that students don't introduce themselves because they know that there classmates or teachers already knowing him well, so there is no need for introduction. But this is wrong, it creates a bad impression, at least bad than those who have introduced themselves at the beginning of the debate. The next step is discussing the meaning of the topic. Suppose your topic is "domestic violence because of dowry system ", then first you should define " domestic violence" and then what is "dowry system". After explaining it well, we need to create a link between the real topic and the subtopic or the problems and its solution.
When you are preparing for any debates you should think about the topic as both, the boon and the curse. Suppose you are debating in favor of any topic then you should also prepare or at least think of its bad side too so that if opposition team will attack you or ask you a question then you can answer it. If you are preparing for both sides of the topic then there is no chance that opposition can win over you because you are already aware of its problem and you are ready with solutions. If you are asking any question or giving the answers to the opposition team then you should be formal about it. And if you don't know the answer or don't know how to reply then try to connect that questions with your preparation. It means, tries to connect it with your already prepared answers.
At last but not least, the conclusion matters a lot. Suppose if you spoke well and attacked well without being offensive but you haven't concluded it well then it all goes to vain. So conclusion matters. Always prepare a conclusion and a beginning first and then the middle discussion so that your beginning will always be related to the conclusion and vice versa. And try to make a conclusion stronger than a beginning because the last impression is the best impression. Overall I can say that, try to make it simple, not offensive and try to prepare your debate as an audience.
