The Journey of MCU

After 11 years, 21 movies, 136 stars, we finally have reached the illusive finale of the majestic MCU. It is not only the conclusive journey of the Avengers, but also the eventual gratification for the people who supported the entire Marvel Cinematic jaunt throughout the course.

The ease with which the MCU is today doing business, it seems like wasn’t really hard for them to start the great journey. But the Marvel Studios have faced hardships more than we can imagine. The success of Sam Raimi’s Spiderman and few selective Fox movies had ensured that Marvel was not at least completely out of business. Although These Spiderman and X-Men movies were a success, only Superman & Batman were considered the ultimate superheroes, and no one would buy the rights for Marvel’s other characters. It was at this time when the marvelous Kevin Feige came up with the perilous idea of a joint universe wherein superheroes would team up to fight against the evils of this world (universe, tbh).

Robert Downey Jr. playing himself in the successful Iron Man film in 2008 followed by the ‘not-so-great’ and disastrous Incredible Hulk starring Edward Norton had made the situation tougher for the studios. But Feige never apprehended his vision and continued making more standalone films before uniting the heroes for the first ever Avengers movie which was lauded by critics and fan all over the world. The Avengers also teased the entrance of the greatest antagonist of 21st century as the mastermind behind the entire New York attacks.

Following the grand success of The Avengers, Iron Man 3 clambered to garner more than $1 billion, which was followed by Thor: The Dark World and the critically acclaimed 2nd installment of the Captain America film marking the return of Captain’s long lost friend – Bucky Barnes as the Winter Soldier.

When everyone thought that the risks were done with, and the base is set, Marvel came up with a film on their ‘Grade C’ superheroes which consisted of a talking raccoon and a walking tree among others; all directed by a controversial director.

This movie - Guardians of the Galaxy came out as one of the biggest surprise blockbusters in the history of cinema. Here our prime antagonist is named for the first time, followed by another end credit scene in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Heroes getting teamed up to fight the evils is what everyone wants and expects and accepts. But what if the two biggest superheroes get in a conflict and the entire the team is divided into two groups, eventually leading to the downfall of themselves? This is what exactly Captain America: Civil War does.Tony Stark and Steve Rogers have different views on the Avengers signing the Sokovia Accords. The disagreement turns into a cruel fight when a major secret about Steve’s friend Bucky Barnes is revealed to Tony.

The movie not only captures Stark vs Steve rivalry, but also involves other Avenger friends splitting up on the basis of their opinion. It is always hard to make a movie with the good guys fighting each other. But with the Russo brothers and Kevin Feige in the camp, you need not worry. Civil War also marked the MCU debut of the Wakandian King T’Challa and the friendly neighborhood teen Spiderman.

Dr. Strange and Antman were introduced in their own solo movies, both of them proving to be successful film.

Also, people have high expectations from Captain Marvel, the latest addition to the team who is all set to join Avengers after her blockbuster solo movie alongside the two-eyed Nick Fury.

After Hulk’s comeback in Thor: Ragnarok, the stage was set for Thanos to make his grand appearance.

With Ego – The Celestial, Ancient One, Odin Allfather and daughter Hela, all apparently dead, it was the best time for Thanos to start on his collection journey. If this wasn’t enough, our heroes were at a vulnerable stage since the Avengers had broke up; Thor had lost his Mlojnir and Asgard; Dr. Banner wasn’t able to turn himself into the green monster; And Cap was without his iconic shield. Contrary to people’s belief and defying all the fan theories, Avengers: Infinity War came up as a surprise when we saw the disintegration of our beloved superheroes.

Bringing all the heroes introduced in their previous 18 movies in a single 150 minute movie was a herculean task but was managed skilfully by the Russos and Kevin Feige. Now it remains to be seen whether the original Avengers with the help of some new recruits, would be able to pull off the fight and bring back our fallen heroes or not.

Because WE ARE IN THE ENDGAME NOW.
A tribute to the Excelsior STAN LEE.
