O you who have believed, when you contract a debt for a specified term, write it down. And let a scribe write between you in justice. Let no scribe refuse to write as Allah has taught him. So let him write and let the one who has the obligation dictate. And let him fear Allah, his Lord, and not leave anything out of it. But if the one who has the obligation is of limited understanding or weak or unable to dictate himself, then let his guardian dictate in justice. And bring to witness two witnesses from among your men. And if there are not two men, then a man and two women from those whom you accept as witnesses - so that if one of the women errs, then the other can remind her. And let not the witnesses refuse when they are called upon. And do not be weary to write it, whether it is small or large, for its term. That is more just in the sight of Allah and stronger as evidence and more likely to prevent doubt between you, except when it is an immediate transaction which you conduct among yourselves. For there is no blame upon you if you do not write it. And take witnesses when you conclude a contract. Let no scribe be harmed or any witness. For if you do so, indeed, it is disobedience in you. And fear Allah. And Allah teaches you. And Allah is Knowing of all things.
ऐ ईमानदारों जब एक मियादे मुक़र्ररा तक के लिए आपस में क़र्ज क़ा लेन देन करो तो उसे लिखा पढ़ी कर लिया करो और लिखने वाले को चाहिये कि तुम्हारे दरमियान तुम्हारे क़ौल व क़रार को, इन्साफ़ से ठीक ठीक लिखे और लिखने वाले को लिखने से इन्कार न करना चाहिये जिस तरह ख़ुदा ने उसे सिखाया है उसी तरह उसको भी वे उज़्र लिख देना चाहिये और जिसके ज़िम्मे क़र्ज़ आयद होता है उसी को चाहिए कि की इबारत बताता जाये और ख़ुदा से डरे जो उसका सच्चा पालने वाला है डरता रहे और और क़र्ज़ देने वाले के हुक़ूक़ में कुछ कमी न करे अगर क़र्ज़ लेने वाला कम अक्ल या माज़ूर या ख़ुद का मतलब लिखवा न सकता हो तो उसका सरपरस्त ठीक ठीक इन्साफ़ से लिखवा दे और अपने लोगों में से जिन लोगों को तुम गवाही लेने के लिये पसन्द करो दो मर्दों की गवाही कर लिया करो फिर अगर दो मर्द न हो तो एक मर्द और दो औरतें उन दोनों में से अगर एक भूल जाएगी तो एक दूसरी को याद दिला देगी, और जब गवाह हुक्काम के सामने बुलाया जाएं तो हाज़िर होने से इन्कार न करे और क़र्ज़ का मामला ख्वाह छोटा हो या उसकी मियाद मुअय्युन तक की लिखवाने में काहिली न करो, ख़ुदा के नज़दीक ये लिखा पढ़ी बहुत ही मुन्सिफ़ाना कारवाई है और गवाही के लिए भी बहुत मज़बूती है और बहुत क़रीन है कि तुम आईन्दा किसी तरह के शक व शुबहा में न पड़ो मगर जब नक़द सौदा हो जो तुम लोग आपस में उलट फेर किया करते हो तो उसकी के न लिखने में तुम पर कुछ इल्ज़ाम नहीं है और जब उसी तरह की ख़रीद हो तो गवाह कर लिया करो और क़ातिब और गवाह को ज़रर न पहुँचाया जाए और अगर तुम ऐसा कर बैठे तो ये ज़रूर तुम्हारी शरारत है और ख़ुदा से डरो ख़ुदा तुमको मामले की सफ़ाई सिखाता है और वह हर चीज़ को ख़ूब जानता हैAnd whoever is in the heavens and the earth is His ; and those who are with Him are not proud to serve Him, nor do they grow weary.
और आकाशों और धरती में जो कोई है उसी का है । और जो उसके पास है वे न तो अपने को बड़ा समझकर उसकी बन्दगी से मुँह मोड़ते है औऱ न वे थकते हैDaljit and I lost no time in presenting them with a rear view, and we made off through the fields as fast as our weary limbs would take us.
थके - मांदे होने के बावजूद हम जितनी तेजी से भाग सकते थे, उतनी तेजी से खेतों में से भागे ।O ye who believe! when ye deal, one with anot her, in lending for a term named, write it down, and let a scribe write it down justly between you, and let not the scribe refuse to write according as Allah hath taught him. Let him write them, and let him who oweth dictate, and let him fear Allah, his Lord, and diminish not aught thereof. But if he who oweth be witless or infirm or unable himself to dictate, then let his guardian dictate justly. And call to witness two witnesses of your men, but if both be not men, then a man and two women of those ye agree upon as witnesses, so that if one of the twain err, the one thereof shall remind the other: and let not the witnesses refuse When they are called on And be not weary of writing it down, be it small or big, with the term thereof. This is the most equitable in the sight of Allah and the most confirmatory of testimony and nearest that ye may not doubt, except when it be a ready merchandise that ye circulate between you, for then there Shall be no blame on you if ye write it not down. And call witnesses when ye bargain With one anot her ; and let not the scribe eome to harm nor the witness ; and if ye do, verily it will be wickedness in you. Fear Allah ; and Allah teacheth you Knower ; and Allah is of everything Knower.
ऐ ईमान लानेवालो! जब किसी निश्चित अवधि के लिए आपस में ऋण का लेन - देन करो तो उसे लिख लिया करो और चाहिए कि कोई लिखनेवाला तुम्हारे बीच न्यायपूर्वक लिख दे । और लिखनेवाला लिखने से इनकार न करे ; जिस प्रकार अल्लाह ने उसे सिखाया है, उसी प्रकार वह दूसरों के लिए लिखने के काम आए और बोलकर वह लिखाए जिसके ज़िम्मे हक़ की अदायगी हो । और उसे अल्लाह का, जो उसका रब है, डर रखना चाहिए और उसमें कोई कमी न करनी चाहिए । फिर यदि वह व्यक्ति जिसके ज़िम्मे हक़ की अदायगी हो, कम समझ या कमज़ोर हो या वह बोलकर न लिखा सकता हो तो उसके संरक्षक को चाहिए कि न्यायपूर्वक बोलकर लिखा दे । और अपने पुरुषों में से दो गवाहो को गवाह बना लो और यदि दो पुरुष न हों तो एक पुरुष और दो स्त्रियाँ, जिन्हें तुम गवाह के लिए पसन्द करो, गवाह हो जाएँ ताकि यदि एक भूल जाए तो दूसरी उसे याद दिला दे । और गवाहों को जब बुलाया जाए तो आने से इनकार न करें । मामला चाहे छोटा हो या बड़ा एक निर्धारित अवधि तक के लिए है, तो उसे लिखने में सुस्ती से काम न लो । यह अल्लाह की स्पष्ट से अधिक न्यायसंगत बात है और इससे गवाही भी अधिक ठीक रहती है । और इससे अधिक संभावना है कि तुम किसी संदेह में नहीं पड़ोगे । हाँ, यदि कोई सौदा नक़द हो, जिसका लेन - देन तुम आपस में कर रहे हो, तो तुम्हारे उसके न लिखने में तुम्हारे लिए कोई दोष नहीं । और जब आपम में क्रय - विक्रय का मामला करो तो उस समय भी गवाह कर लिया करो, और न किसी लिखनेवाले को हानि पहुँचाए जाए और न किसी गवाह को । और यदि ऐसा करोगे तो यह तुम्हारे लिए अवज्ञा की बात होगी । और अल्लाह का डर रखो । अल्लाह तुम्हें शिक्षा दे रहा है । और अल्लाह हर चीज़ को जानता हैSome Indians were war - weary, while others had become entirely defeatist and therefore looked upon the staunch Satyagrahis as so many fools.

जब वे पद्य लिखती हैं तब वे ऊबी हुई भी हैं ।Believers, when you contract a debt for a fixed period, put it in writing. Let a scribe write it down between you with fairness ; no scribe shall refuse to write as Allah has taught him. Therefore, let him write ; and let the debtor dictate, fearing Allah his Lord, and do not decrease anything of it. If the debtor is a fool, or weak, or unable to dictate himself, let his guardian dictate for him in fairness. Call to witness two witnesses of your men, if the two are not men, then a man and two women from the witnesses whom you approve ; so that if one of the two errs, one of them will remind the other. Whenever witnesses are called upon they must not refuse, and do not be weary to write it down, be it small or large, together with its term. This is more just with Allah ; it ensures accuracy in testifying and is the least of doubt. Unless it is present merchandise that you circulate between you ; then no guilt shall be on you if you do not write it down and take witnesses when you are selling, and let no harm be done to either scribe or witness. If you do, that is a transgression in you. Fear Allah. Allah teaches you, and Allah has knowledge of everything.

हालाँकि जो लोग आसमान और ज़मीन में हैं उसी के हैं और जो उस सरकार में हैं न तो वह उसकी इबादत की शेख़ी करते हैं और न थकते हैंWere We then weary with the first Creation, that they should be in confused doubt about a new Creation ?
तो क्या हम पहली बार पैदा करके थक गये हैं मगर ये लोग अज़ सरे नौ पैदा करने की निस्बत शक़ में पड़े हैंAllah: the Everlasting, the Sustainer of the whole Universe ; there is no god but He. He does neither slumber nor sleep. Whatsoever is in the heavens and in the earth is His. Who is there that can intercede with Him except by His own permission. ? He knows what is before the people and also what is hidden from them. And they cannot comprehend anything of His knowledge save whatever He Himself pleases to reveal. His Kingdom spreads over the heavens and the earth and the guarding of these does not weary Him. He alone is the Supreme and the Exalted.
ख़ुदा ही वो ज़ाते पाक है कि उसके सिवा कोई माबूद नहीं ज़िन्दा है सारे जहान का संभालने वाला है उसको न ऊँघ आती है न नींद जो कुछ आसमानो में है और जो कुछ ज़मीन में है उसी का है कौन ऐसा है जो बग़ैर उसकी इजाज़त के उसके पास किसी की सिफ़ारिश करे जो कुछ उनके सामने मौजूद है और जो कुछ उनके पीछे है जानता है और लोग उसके इल्म में से किसी चीज़ पर भी अहाता नहीं कर सकते मगर वह जिसे जितना चाहे उसकी कुर्सी सब आसमानॊं और ज़मीनों को घेरे हुये है और उन दोनों की निगेहदाश्त उसपर कुछ भी मुश्किल नहीं और वह आलीशान बुजुर्ग़ मरतबा है
