• Believers, do not hunt when you are in the holy precinct. Whichever of you purposely kills game in the holy precinct has to offer, as an expiation, a sacrifice in the holy precinct which two just people among you would consider equal to the prey or food to a destitute person or has to fast to bear the burden of the penalty for his deed. God forgives whatever was done in the past, but He will take revenge on whoever returns to transgression, for He is Majestic and Capable of taking revenge.
  को मारा है चौपायों में से उसका मसल तुममें से जो दो मुन्सिफ आदमी तजवीज़ कर दें उसका बदला होगा काबा तक पहुँचा कर कुर्बानी की जाए या जुर्माना मोहताजों को खाना खिलाना या उसके बराबर रोज़े रखना ताकि अपने किए की सज़ा का मज़ा चखो जो हो चुका उससे तो ख़ुदा ने दरग़ुज़र की और जो फिर ऐसी हरकत करेगा तो ख़ुदा उसकी सज़ा देगा और ख़ुदा ज़बरदस्त बदला लेने वाला है

• If the murdered p jrson is a Brahman, the Brahman murderer has to answer for it in a future life, or he is not allowed to do expiation, because expiation wipes off the sin from the sinner, whilst nothing can wipe off any of the mortal crimes from a Brahman, of which the greatest are: the murder of a Brahman, called vajmbmhmahatya ; further, the killing of a cow, the drinking of wine, whoredom, especially with the wife of one ' s own father and teacher.
  यदि जिस व्यक्ति की हत्या हुई है वह ब्राह्मण हो तो हत्यारे ब्राह्मण को अगले जन्म में उसका उत्तर देना पड़ेगा क़्योंकि उसको प्रायश्चित करने की अनुमति नहीं है इसलिए कि प्रायश्चित करने से पापी का पाप धुल जाता है जबकि नियमानुसार ब्राह्मण द्वारा किए गए किसी भी महापाप का मार्जन नहीं हो सकता. महापाप ये हैं: ब्राह्मण की हत्या जो बज्र ब्रह्म हत्या ? कहलाती है ; इसके अतिरिक़्त गो - हत्या, मद्यपान, व्यभिचार विशेष रूप से अपने पिता की और गुरू की पत्नी के साथ किया गया व्यभिचार.

• God will not take you to task for a slip in your oaths ; but He will take you to task for such bonds as you have made by oaths, whereof the expiation is to feed ten poor persons with the average of the food you serve to your families, or to clothe them, or to set free a slave ; or if any finds not the means, let him fast for three days. That is the expiation of your oaths when you have sworn ; but keep your oaths. So God makes clear to you His signs ; haply you will be thankful.
  तुम्हारी उन क़समों पर अल्लाह तुम्हें नहीं पकड़ता जो यूँ ही असावधानी से ज़बान से निकल जाती है । परन्तु जो तुमने पक्की क़समें खाई हों, उनपर वह तुम्हें पकड़ेगा । तो इसका प्रायश्चित दस मुहताजों को औसत दर्जें का खाना खिला देना है, जो तुम अपने बाल - बच्चों को खिलाते हो या फिर उन्हें कपड़े पहनाना या एक ग़ुलाम आज़ाद करना होगा । और जिसे इसकी सामर्थ्य न हो, तो उसे तीन दिन के रोज़े रखने होंगे । यह तुम्हारी क़समों का प्रायश्चित है, जबकि तुम क़सम खा बैठो । तुम अपनी क़समों की हिफ़ाजत किया करो । इस प्रकार अल्लाह अपनी आयतें तुम्हारे सामने खोल - खोलकर बयान करता है, ताकि तुम कृतज्ञता दिखलाओ

• God does not punish you but for what you swear in earnest. The expiation is feeding ten persons who are poor, with food that you give your own families, or clothing them, or freeing a slave. But he who cannot do so should fast for three days. This is the expiation for an oath when you have sworn it. So abide by your oaths. Thus God makes His commandments clear to you: You may perhaps be grateful.
  ख़ुदा तुम्हारे बेकार क़समों पर तो ख़ैर गिरफ्तार न करेगा मगर बाक़सद पक्की क़सम खाने और उसके ख़िलाफ करने पर तो ज़रुर तुम्हारी ले दे करेगा उसका जुर्माना जैसा तुम ख़ुद अपने एहलोअयाल को खिलाते हो उसी क़िस्म का औसत दर्जे का दस मोहताजों को खाना खिलाना या उनको कपड़े पहनाना या एक गुलाम आज़ाद करना है फिर जिससे यह सब न हो सके तो मैं तीन दिन के रोज़े ये तुम्हारी क़समों का जुर्माना है जब तुम क़सम खाओ और अपनी क़समों का ख्याल रखो ख़ुदा अपने एहकाम को तुम्हारे वास्ते यूँ साफ़ साफ़ बयान करता है ताकि तुम शुक्र करो

• God will not call you to account for your meaningless oaths, but He will call you to account for the oaths, which you swear in earnest. The expiation for a broken oath is the feeding of ten needy men with such food as you normally offer to your own people ; or the clothing of ten needy men ; or the freeing of one slave. Anyone who lacks the means shall fast for three days. That is the expiation of your breaking the oaths that you have sworn. Do keep your oaths. Thus God explains to you His commandments, so that you may be grateful.
  तुम्हारी उन क़समों पर अल्लाह तुम्हें नहीं पकड़ता जो यूँ ही असावधानी से ज़बान से निकल जाती है । परन्तु जो तुमने पक्की क़समें खाई हों, उनपर वह तुम्हें पकड़ेगा । तो इसका प्रायश्चित दस मुहताजों को औसत दर्जें का खाना खिला देना है, जो तुम अपने बाल - बच्चों को खिलाते हो या फिर उन्हें कपड़े पहनाना या एक ग़ुलाम आज़ाद करना होगा । और जिसे इसकी सामर्थ्य न हो, तो उसे तीन दिन के रोज़े रखने होंगे । यह तुम्हारी क़समों का प्रायश्चित है, जबकि तुम क़सम खा बैठो । तुम अपनी क़समों की हिफ़ाजत किया करो । इस प्रकार अल्लाह अपनी आयतें तुम्हारे सामने खोल - खोलकर बयान करता है, ताकि तुम कृतज्ञता दिखलाओ

• Allah will not punish you for what is uninentional in your oaths, but He will punish you for your deliberate oaths ; for its expiation feed ten Masakin, on a scale of the average of that with which you feed your own families ; or clothe them ; or manumit a slave. But whosoever cannot afford, then he should fast for three days. That is the expiation for the oaths when you have sworn. And protect your oaths. Thus Allah make clear to you His Ayat that you may be grateful.

• Allah will not call you to account for what is futile in your oaths, but He will call you to account for your deliberate oaths: for expiation, feed ten indigent persons, on a scale of the average for the food of your families ; or clothe them ; or give a slave his freedom. If that is beyond your means, fast for three days. That is the expiation for the oaths ye have sworn. But keep to your oaths. Thus doth Allah make clear to you His signs, that ye may be grateful.
