• And those who have earned evil, the punishment of an evil is the like of it, and abasement shall come upon them - - they shall have none to protect them from Allah - - as if their faces had been covered with slices of the dense darkness of night ; these are the inmates of the fire ; in it they shall abide.
  रहे वे लोग जिन्होंने बुराइयाँ कमाई, तो एक बुराई का बदला भी उसी जैसा होगा ; और ज़िल्लत उनपर छा रही होगी । उन्हें अल्लाह से बचानेवाला कोई न होगा । उनके चहरों पर मानो अँधेरी रात के टुकड़े ओढ़ा दिए गए हों । वही आगवाले हैं, उन्हें उसमें सदैव रहना है

• humbled shall be their eyes, and abasement shall overspread them, for they had been summoned to bow themselves while they were whole.
  उनकी निगाहें झुकी हुई होंगी, ज़िल्लत उनपर छा रही होगी । उन्हें उस समय भी सजदा करने के लिए बुलाया जाता था जब वे भले - चंगे थे

• And when you said: O Musa! we cannot bear with one food, therefore pray Lord on our behalf to bring forth for us out of what the earth grows, of its herbs and its cucumbers and its garlic and its lentils and its onions. He said: Will you exchange that which is better for that which is worse ? Enter a city, so you will have what you ask for. And abasement and humiliation were brought down upon them, and they became deserving of Allah ' s wrath ; this was so because they disbelieved in the communications of Allah and killed the prophets unjustly ; this was so because they disobeyed and exceeded the limits.
  जब तुमने मूसा से कहा कि ऐ मूसा हमसे एक ही खाने पर न रहा जाएगा तो आप हमारे लिए अपने परवरदिगार से दुआ कीजिए कि जो चीज़े ज़मीन से उगती है जैसे साग पात तरकारी और ककड़ी और गेहूँ या और मसूर और प्याज़ की जगह पैदा करें कहा क्या तुम ऐसी चीज़ को जो हर तरह से बेहतर है अदना चीज़ से बदलन चाहते हो तो किसी शहर में उतर पड़ो फिर तुम्हारे लिए जो तुमने माँगा है सब मौजूद है और उन पर रूसवाई और मोहताजी की मार पड़ी और उन लोगों ने क़हरे खुदा की तरफ पलटा खाया, ये सब इस सबब से हुआ कि वह लोग खुदा की निशानियों से इन्कार करते थे और पैग़म्बरों को नाहक शहीद करते थे, और इस वजह से कि वह नाफ़रमानी और सरकशी किया करते थे

• And for those who have earned evil deeds the recompense of an evil deed shall be the like of it ; abasement shall overspread them, neither have they any defender from God, as if their faces were covered with strips of night shadowy. Those are the inhabitants of the Fire, therein dwelling forever.
  रहे वे लोग जिन्होंने बुराइयाँ कमाई, तो एक बुराई का बदला भी उसी जैसा होगा ; और ज़िल्लत उनपर छा रही होगी । उन्हें अल्लाह से बचानेवाला कोई न होगा । उनके चहरों पर मानो अँधेरी रात के टुकड़े ओढ़ा दिए गए हों । वही आगवाले हैं, उन्हें उसमें सदैव रहना है

• Abasement is made to cleave to them wherever they are found, except under a covenant with Allah and a covenant with men, and they have become deserving of wrath from Allah, and humiliation is made to cleave to them ; this is because they disbelieved in the communications of Allah and slew the prophets unjustly ; this is because they disobeyed and exceeded the limits.
  वे जहाँ कहीं भी पाए गए उनपर ज़िल्लत थोप दी गई । किन्तु अल्लाह की रस्सी थामें या लोगों का रस्सी, तो और बात है । वे ल्लाह के प्रकोप के पात्र हुए और उनपर दशाहीनता थोप दी गई । यह इसलिए कि वे अल्लाह की आयतों का इनकार और नबियों को नाहक़ क़त्ल करते रहे है । और यह इसलिए कि उन्होंने अवज्ञा की और सीमोल्लंघन करते रहे

• And when you said, ‘O Moses, ‘We will not put up with one kind of food. So invoke your Lord for us, so that He may bring forth for us of that which the earth grows—its greens and cucumbers, its garlic, lentils, and onions. ’ He said, ‘Do you seek to replace what is superior with that which is inferior ? Go down to any town and you will indeed get what you ask for! ’ So they were struck with abasement and poverty, and they earned Allah’s wrath. That, because they would deny the signs of Allah and kill the prophets unjustly. That, because they would disobey and commit transgressions.
  और याद करो जब तुमने कहा था," ऐ मूसा, हम एक ही प्रकार के खाने पर कदापि संतोष नहीं कर सकते, अतः हमारे लिए अपने रब से प्रार्थना करो कि हमारे वास्ते धरती की उपज से साग - पात और ककड़ियाँ और लहसुन और मसूर और प्याज़ निकाले ।" और मूसा ने कहा," क्या तुम जो घटिया चीज़ है उसको उससे बदलकर लेना चाहते हो जो उत्तम है ? किसी नगर में उतरो, फिर जो कुछ तुमने माँगा हैं, तुम्हें मिल जाएगा" - और उनपर अपमान और हीन दशा थोप दी गई, और अल्लाह के प्रकोप के भागी हुए । यह इसलिए कि वे अल्लाह की आयतों का इनकार करते रहे और नबियों की अकारण हत्या करते थे । यह इसलिए कि उन्होंने अवज्ञा की और वे सीमा का उल्लंघन करते रहे

• Know they not that whoso opposeth Allah and His messenger, his verily is fire of hell, to abide therein ? That is the extreme abasement.
  क्या उन्हें मालूम नहीं कि जो अल्लाह औऱ उसके रसूल का विरोध करता है, उसके लिए जहन्नम की आग है जिसमें वह सदैव रहेगा । यह बहुत बड़ी रुसवाई है
