After the historical Test and ODI series wins against Australia in Australia and creating history , it is time for team India to reign supreme against the Kiwi's on their own soil.

By making the impossible the possible, The Indian team is on a high.

Challenges have been accepted and critics have been shut by the performances of the team.

Although India had a bad outing the last time they played against New Zealand when they lost the ODI series 3-2 in 2014 , India is ready for every challenge that NewZealand has to put forth.

With all the departments sorted out , India is looking on to grab another series win under their belt but this time , against New Zealand.

India is scheduled to play 5 One Dayer's and 3 T20I'S against New Zealand , over the next month or so.

The first one day has been played today at Napier from 7:00 am IST.

Right before the series is about to start , Team India had a great outing at the recently concluded ICC Awards. Team India's Captain Virat Kohli had won three prestigious awards at the ICC Awards that of , The ICC Test Cricketer of the Year , The ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year and The ICC Cricketer of the year. He was also named the Captain for both the ICC Test and ODI XI of the year as well. The young Rishab Pant had grabbed the Emerging Test Player of the Year Award.

Now with these awards , The mindset would definitely be on a high for Team India.

With a positive mindset and a approach , India went to the field against New Zealand.

India lost the toss and NewZealand elected to bat first.

The decision might have been wrong from Kane Williamson as NewZealand were 2 down for 20 after 7 overs.

Mohammed Shami managed to pick two quick wickets with his pace and bounce , which cleaned up Martin Guptill and Colin Munro.

By getting Guptill and Munro out , these were Shami's 100th and 101st Wickets in his ODI career , which made him the fastest Indian bowler to 100 wickets in the history of ODI cricket for India. Shami achieved this wonderful feat in his 56th Appearance for India. He broke the record of Irfan Pathan who achieved the feat in 59 matches.

Later on with the spinners on , India took crucial wickets time to time , to bundle up New Zealand for 157. Yuzvendra Chahal picked up 2 wickets ( both Caught and bowled) and Kuldeep Yadav picked up 4 wickets.

It was now time for the batsmen to win the game for India with an easy target to chase , that of 158.

India had one of those not so good starts , where in India lost Rohit Sharma for 11.

It was now time for Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli to step up to the occasion and to win the match for India.

The duo put on a very nice partnership with Shikhar Dhawan getting his half century and Virat Kohli reaching his 40's when he got out caught at 45 off Doug Bracewell.

He got out when India were in a commendable position with India almost home. Ambati Rayudu came in to the crease and edged one to the boundary.

This way , India won the first ODI against NewZealand by 8 wickets by the DLS method. Shikar Dhawan was not out on 75*.

Although Kane won the Kane vs Kohli battle by scoring more than him , It was Kohli who had the last laugh by winning the game.

It was after 10 long years that India won a One day game against NewZealand at NewZealand. Mohammed Shami was adjudged the Man of the Match for his clinical bowling at the beginning of the innings picking up 3 crucial wickets for 19 runs.

At the post match presentation , Virat said it was one of those most balanced performances from the team.

The next ODI is set to be played on Republic Day that is on 26th January.
