T20 the format which gives the cricket a new identity. From the long test format to one day and then to 3 hours blockbuster cricket, India was one of the most important part of this transformation. In the year 2007 when the fastest format of cricket T20 was introduced it was India who shown a great oppose of this format. But later how this format able to win the hearts of billion of Indian cricket fans it's something incredible in itself. Like other cricket boards of the world the Indian Cricket board BCCI was not facing the loss of money so they don't want to have any changes in the formats of the game. It is the loss of other Cricket boards forced India to take part in the inaugural edition of T20 world cup in South Africa.

As the outset of this tournament was ignored by the Indian Cricket board similarly the big names of Indian cricket like Sourav Ganguly Sachin Tendulkar Rahul Dravid VVS Laxman Anil Kumble were decided to not take part in this format of the game. Asset of young talented cricketer under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni who later becomes institute of captaincy. With the list of expectation 15 young Indian players took off for South Africa without making their debut in T20. The full bunch of players have to make their debut in World Cup which was a great disadvantage for a world cup campaign to begin.


The whole team was going to make debut against Scotland but unfortunately it was washed out before a single over had bowled. The very next match of India against arch rival Pakistan. The match was actually even the fans able to show first ever bola out tu to get the the ultimate result. India through to the super six.


India played their first match against Daniel Vettori's New Zealand. Unfortunately India could not able to manage a victory over New Zealand but cricket in world has seen something which was unexpected at the time but nowadays after a decade of T20 cricket it's quite relevant to us. Opening pair of India Gautam Gambhir and Virendra Sehwag able to give India fire restart. They put together more than 70 runs in the first 6 overs.


India's second super six match was against England. the match was highly remembered by the NOC of Yuvraj Singh and specially the six sixes against Stuart Broad. Even in this match India was given a fantastic start by the Indian opening duo Gambhir and Sehwag. It was the highest opening partnership has put in by any opening prayer at that time. That six sixes of Yuvraj Singh what was the final difference between two teams where India where able to put more than 200 runs on the board it was England who gave a fantastic fight and manage to score around 200. With the help of fantastic batting performance India able to register a historical victory over England.


India's next superstar 6th match was against the host South Africa. Before the match Yuvraj Singh was declared unfit so a young sensation from Mumbai opportunity to showcase his talent in the world stage. It was Rohit Sharma who shown his talent for the first time in the international stage which impressed the current Indian captain Virat Kohli who was expected cause of this match not a international cricketer. With the help of great performance of of Indian pace bowlers Rudra Pratap Singh, Irfan Pathan, S. Sreesanth India one that game and also made sure the host South Africa where out of the the competition. Who is the great skill of Indian fast bowler India qualified for the semis.


In semi final 50 over world cup winners and the one of the most devastating team of the time Australia. Fortunately Yuvraj worst fit for that match and played a fantastic innings with 5 sixes and 5 boundaries. The aggressive bowling performance of Sreesanth help India find the path of victory against Australia. Beating the gigantic Australia was done now is the time for the final where the Pakistan was waiting for us.


India versus Pakistan the mother of all battle was in the final of inaugural edition of T20 World Cup which didn't happened in the 50 over world cup. All those things made this grand event more grand. India won the toss and decided to bat first. Debut turn Yusuf Pathan replaced unfit Virendra Sehwag in the final. He opened with Gautam Gambhir who scored two half centuries before entering to this final. One of the unsung heroes of Indian cricket Gautam Gambhir once again step up and delivered one of his knocks of all time in the final against Pakistan.


India put a comparative total against Pakistan. it was the brilliant spell of Irfan Pathan which made the difference between two teams. The end was highly dramatic Joginder Sharma was given the charge of bowling the last over institute of highly experienced Harbhajan Singh. It was one of the first glimpses of Mahendra Singh Dhoni's captaincy. Sreesanth took a shiki catch to ensure India's victory over Pakistan.

The result of India's T20 World Cup victory was the introduction of world most reaches and toughest T20 tournament Indian premier league. This victory laid the foundation for the T20 cricket to emerge as the world most popular format of cricket.
