I'm guessing when walls were made for the first time, they were probably for shelter. To make a home. Somewhere you can go to feel safe, to feel calm and be who you are. Well that person is probably crying in his grave because that’s the last thing we use them for.

.
Now they are used for confinement of people, of opinions, of anyone or anything which doesn't fit into the standard perception of ordinary. But back to our discussion about walls, it’s surprising how much we have changed about this structures. Builders aren’t the only one who make walls are they?

.
Society makes them to confine opinions, Governments make them to mark the start and end of their territory, and we make them to confine… well, us.

.
We create walls that were never meant to be created. And I’ll tell you why we do it. Or at least that's why I think we do it. We are scared. We don’t like change. In fact,we commend change or discrepancy of any kind. And the icing to this cake is the blame game.

.
We blame society for not being open to change, for being suffocating and what not, very conveniently separating ourselves from that group as if we aren’t a part of it. We are hypocrites. We don’t want to be judged. We are scared to get hurt. So we make walls. But what we don’t realise is that that isn’t going to save us. Yes it may save us from others and their judgements, but how will we save us from ourselves? Do we not judge others? Do we not shut down opinions? Do we not get a tad bit of jealous when we see someone not scared to own up to their uniqueness? Do we not label them as outcasts?

.
We judge, but we get riled up when others do it. Telling them not to do so. Yes I'm talking to you guys, the ones who in loud voices claim to be progressive and open minded yet judge someone on the basis of something as trivial as their skin colour. We talk about equality, equal pay, equal rights but forget the small things.

.
We can’t change society if we are adamant on not changing ourselves, that’s like telling people not to wear shoes…while you walk around in high heel stilettos, Stupid and Nonsensical. So next time you feel a wall build around you, just remember, if it isn’t brick and stone, you tear it down.
