In case it isnt clear enough, I hate you. Sad how mumbai took your title isn't? City that never sleeps, because be it the excessive amount of work or another coffee overdose, you always found ways to keep us up, didn't you? Serves you right. After all, you found other ways to make your mark. To be recognised.

.
Everything about you is just so depressing. If cities had official colors you would be black, no actually you would be grey. Sad, dismal and monotonous.

.
Even the people who leave victorious have nothing good to say about you. As for me, I don't know. I loathe my time spent with you. Nights spent toiling over books and papers. Even after leaving you've given me a lifelong gift of anxiety and stress.

.
But, it this pathetic excuse of a city, I also have memories. Memories which I cherish.
Memories with people who I took with me. In our small cupboard rooms of our hostel, we made friendships made to last. So now when I remember you, instead of the bad parts I focus on the good. I remember funzone's cold coffee, I remember the chuskis we had on hot summer nights after dinner. I remember the tension of ordering chicken biryani in a Jain hostel. I remember the on budget midnight birthday celebrations and how each of us took care of one another when we fell sick.

.
Because the thing about us humans is that we can find happiness in the smallest things. And that's what I did. So now I block out the hate and instead remember the good.

.
Maybe someday I'll revisit you and not hate you as much or maybe I will. But all I know is that one day we shall meet again.

Love,
A student
