Holi, the color of festival, is one of the highly celebrated festivals of Hindus. This festival is celebrated in Chaitra Krishna Pratipada after burning of Holika in Falgun Purnima. The celebration of Holi is symbol of arriving of autumn season.

Our all festivals are related with some ancient incidents. The story of Holi is related with a story which is 5 lakhs years old. There was a devil king named Hiranyakashipu, he had a devotee son named Prahalad. Prahalad was a great devotee of lord Vishnu, but he didn’t like that. He thought himself greater than God, so he ordered his people to worship him. But his son request to worship lord Vishnu. “OM NAMO BHAGAVATE VASUDEVAYA” was his favorite quote.

Hiranyakashipu didn’t like this behavior of his son. So he decided to kill him. He used many techniques to kill, but he was unsuccessful in all of them. He had a sister named Holika, she was booned that no fire can kill or harm her. She was ordered to kill Prahalad.Holika sat on fire with Prahalad on her lap. Lord Vishnu saved Prahalad from fire and killed Holika. We burn Holika in every Holi, praying god to kill our all devil sides and save us.

Holi is widely celebrated in many countries of world, but Holi of Bajra Mandal is little different. There is a special song which is sung during Holi, and it is called “Holi”. Many people across the globe come to see this Holi. In this Holi, men from Nanda village, who are named as HOLIHAR, put a big turban over their head. Some girls hold stick on their hand, Holihar sings Holi and pass by them. Girls hit them with stick. Men need to save themselves and reach the goal. In this Holi celebration some minor casualties are found which are negligible, but the environment is colorful and fascinating.

Holi is mainly celebrated in Hindu community, but it is said that some Muslim emperor also celebrated Holi. Wajid Ali Shah, the emperor of Lucknow, used to celebrate Holi. He used write poems on Krishna, write Holi songs and celebrate Holi festival in his own Garden. Wajid Ali was one of those people who spread humanity and love.

Holi is celebrated according to place. In villages, Holi is celebrated according to their tradition and culture. But there are no any sorts of vulgarism reported. On the other hand, if we talk about cities then numbers of crime are reported in the pure day of Holi. Holi is not only festival, it is our identity, our rhythm and gift from our ancestors. We have to save its cultural value. Traditional value and save its identity too.
