Cleansing and toning, allows the skin to be bared and leave the pores open.
So, especially in the drier months, skin tends to loose its moisture.
If anyone has a dry skin, he/she may opt for a heavy moisturizer that is specially formulated for dry skin.

If anyone has oily skin, then he/she may look for an oil free moisturizer that hydrates the skin without making it greasy.

Moisturising should not be skipped even in the summer months.
If it is too hot, a light moisturizer can be used so that it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin.

Moisturizing the skin has always been of great importance.
Because a well-moisturized skin is soft and supple.
It provides a healthy glow and slowers down the skin aging.
Also, a light moisturising cream can be applied because it makes it easier to apply makeup and reduces the risk of skin dragging.

A moisturizer provides a protective layer against the daily wear and tear.
It prevents drying of skin and helps in maintaining its elasticity as lack of elasticity can cause further damage like wrinkles and fine lines.

Daily moisturising prevents water loss and restores the skin’s moisture and also enhances its texture.

It is advisable to moisturise each time we cleanse and tone, or specifically, once in the day and once in the night before going to sleep.

Moisturiser is be applied using the finger tips.
Too much moisturizer should not be applied, as this will just sit heavily, and prevent the skin from breathing and will lead to clogged pores and blackheads.

Besides choosing a moisturizer as per the skin type,it should be made sure that the moisturiser one purchase, include all the three points: –

sun protection, skin hydration and skin softness.
A moisturizer with SPF 15 helps against sun damage.

Moisturising of oily skin:

1. Determines the skin care needs.

If one has only an oily t-zone like forehead, nose and chin,
he/she do not need the same moisturizer as someone with severe acne needs.
There is a need of light moisturizer for oily areas and a need of heavier moisturizer for dry areas.

For excessive oily skin or blemishes, one can use a moisturising gel coupled with a serum to hydrate the skin and control the break-outs.

2. One must look for an “oily skin” label on lotion bottles.
He/she should also see the words “water-based,” “oil-free,” which implies the product won’t clog the pores.

Lotions that are specially made for oily skin, are light and absorb quickly into the skin without leaving a residue.

Many of them contain ingredients like alpha-hydroxy acid for treating the acne.

Gels:
One may try a gel if anyone is reluctant to put lotion on the face.
Many people with oily skin prefer gels to lotions as gels are soothing and dry almost instantly.
They contain humectants that attract moisture to the skin without creating excess oils.

One may look for oil-free moisturising gels made with natural ingredients such as aloe that helps in healing acne-prone skin, or tomato, which controls the oil.

Natural ingredients help to heal the skin that is inflamed from the chemicals of acne treatments or oil stripping cleansers.

Serums:
One should add oil control and anti-blemish serums .
They too help in moisturising and healing the skin.
Anyone can use a serum under the oil-free lotion or gel to target a specific problem.
It should be made sure that the serum is water-based and made for oily skin.
Serums include vitamins and minerals that help in balancing the moisture in the skin and control breakouts.

One can also look for natural ingredients like aloe, kelp, algae, vitamin C, honey, garlic or green tea.

If we do not moisturise our skin properly , it could look sallow and patchy and may even wrinkle faster.

So a good moisturizer is crucial.
