Sweat dropped from Garang’s head ‘What, but people say that the highway is haunted,

It’s unsafe’ Garang’s voice shivered. The old man laughed ‘seem’s that you know a lot about the highway’. The doctor said ‘do you know Mr. Garang why it is called inexistent..’. Garang didn’t answer. The doctor continued ‘ The highway is not much used , people say that some years back..’ a knock at the car’s door distracted everyone’s attention. ‘Don’t open the door, it is not safe.’ Garang shouted.‘Relax son, there are poor villagers they are harmless’ the old man said in a calming tone. The doctor slided the car’s glass. ‘ Sahab some water please , my mother is thirsty she needs some water….please.’ the poor villager cried.

The doctor gave him some money as he had no bottles with him. ‘These villagers are the most innocent people in the city, the only reason they attack is that they have no means to live, rich people have taken over their livelihood they suffer a lot and conclude with suicide’ the old man said in a sad tone. The doctor started the car on the highway. The highway as the name suggests was full of emptiness. There was no one around, not even street animals. Garang’s heart throbbed as the car moved forward. Everything he saw on the highway reminded him of something. Suddenly there was a loud cry of a child and the car came to halt automatically. The doctor tried to start the car but it didn’t move. ‘I told you not to come this way, this place is haunted, nobody comes here’ Garang cried in fear. ‘don’t worry Mr. Garang, there is some issue with the car, I will fix that soon’ the doctor said to calm him down. It was an engine failure ‘we need some water’ Mr. Prakash shouted. ‘But we don’t have water’ the old man replied. The old man came out of the car, while Garang preferred to stay inside. After fifteen minutes of hard work there was no result. ‘Mr. Garang I think we need to fetch some water, there is a well nearby can you please help us’. At first Garang was reluctant but he wanted to get rid of the highway as soon as he could. The doctor mentored his car, while the old man and Garang went towards the nearby village to fetch some water. A woman came running from the village and fell on Garang’s feet. Garang shouted with fear but she didn’t leave his feet. Her hands were burnt, she had a long ghoonghat. ‘Sahab my in-laws beat me a lot, please help me’ she cried. ‘Ok, where is house’ the old man asked. ‘No we can’t believe her she is lying , it is dangerous to follow her.’ Garang said to the old man. After few minutes of debate, the old man agreed with Garang. They were about to refuse her but she had disappeared.
