Sitcoms or situation comedies are a great way to relieve stress. After the day’s hard work, frustration if we need to calm our nerves and divert our mind for a few hours, sitcoms can be the ultimate rescuer. I prefer sitcoms to thriller or horror as we don’t need to intrigue ourselves to comprehend the plot, rather we can always enjoy the light hearted comedy. When we laugh wholeheartedly, in our pyjamas, it not only lightens our mood but also reduces blood pressure. Sitcom is a great exercise to generate laughter.

A recent survey has claimed that almost 70% of series watching people feel positive if they binge watch a sitcom. Within few minutes we forget the worries and get engrossed into the situation. We all know that laughter releases endorphins, which makes us happy. And sitcom serves the criteria well.

Sitcom offers us a universal situation, portraying frustrating characters just like us. It teaches us that the annoyance we are feeling right now, will be actually quite funny in a few days. Moreover there’s nothing funnier than watching a bunch of miserable people working out their problems. In a way it gives us inspiration.

Humour can be relative, so what’s funny to me, can be pretty blunt to others. But here’s a few names which one can try.

That 70s show: Marked with an unusual group, with Eric and his friends, That 70s show pretty much covers my college days. A perfect platform to exhibit pop culture, 70s show fuels the career of Aston Kutcher and Mila Kunis.

Friends : There’s nothing more relaxing than watching six friends living their best days in New York city. From searching apartment to hooking up, Friends is one of the most watched sitcoms ever telecasted. They make us laugh, cry and above all they taught us to rely on our dear ones in misery.

Modern Family: Two distinguished families along with gay parents of an adopted girl, this series depicts misery in the most funny way. But above all family will always be there to support, that’s the message it gives.

How I met your mother : It has the most romantic, Ted Mosby, narrating the events of how he met their( kids’ ) mother.

The office, Two and half man are other few names one should consider. Their quick witted dialogues, body language and miserable situations are enough to freshen up your mood. But again too much sitcom while ignoring the real problem can lead to serious damage. So just for momentary pleasure sitcoms are the perfect remedy.
