Movies based on real life crimes are always an interesting watch. Bollywood is not only about dance and drama, but so much more.Bollywood has produced great crime films like Gangs of Wasseypur, Haider and much more. Here is a list ofBollywood Movies Based on Real Life Crimes which I have personally watched and liked.

1. Once upon a time in Mumbai (2010)

Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai (2010) is about how Dawood Ibrahim rose to become the don of Bombay. The movie depicts the growth of crime and smuggling in Bombay. Ajay Devgn plays Sultan Mirza who is a criminal and deals with smuggling and stuff. Despite being a criminal, he has a heart of gold and is a godfather-like figure to the people. This movie is a true blend of acting, action and much more. It is definitely worth a watch.

2. No one killed Jessica (2011)

No One Killed Jessica (2011) is a story of a girl, Jessica, who was murdered by the son of a wealthy politician. The film tells the story of a journalist who is interested in the case. She teams up with the sister of murdered model to bring justice to Jessica’s case. If mystery is your thing then this is an editor's choice for you. This movie is filled with suspense and you will love it for sure.

3. Paan Singh Tomar (2012)

Paan Singh Tomar (2012) is a biographic based on the true story of an athlete, Paan Singh Tomar. Paan Singh is a sepoy in Indian Army. He joins the sports division because there is no limit on their diet. The film is about how an Indian athlete becomes a Rebel. It features Irfan Khan whose acting is exceptionally well. This movie is perfect as it will inspire and make you feel happy.

4. Special 26 (2013)

Special 26 (2013) is about a bunch of men who pretend to be CBI officers and raid high profile people. The film is based on 1987 Opera House heist. A.K Ajay Singh (played by Akshay Kumar) place a classified advertisement in the National newspaper. A blend of comedy and reality, it is surely one of the best with its sequel coming out this year.

5. Talvar (2015)

Talvar (2015) is based on the 2008 Noida double murder case where a 14-year-old girl Aarushi Talwar was found dead in her apartment. Their domestic helper Hemraj was missing until his dead body was discovered from another part of the building. This case was in courts for a pretty long time but still no justice to the young girl. This movie has a very interesting plotline and is full of suspense.

I personally feel these are some of the best movies based on true life stories. There are many more including Gangs of Wasseypur, Shootout at Wadala, Talvaar , Bandit Queen and many more. Thought the real names and places may not be used as to not offend people, but they are based on true stories. All these movies are exceptionally well made and are worth watching.
