Thailand is a beautiful country. It not only has different varieties of food and places to visit, but the festivals celebrated in Thailand are something to experience too.

Almost in every month of the year, there is a festival celebrated in Thailand. This is because of its diverse culture and heritage.

Here is the list of a few of the festivals celebrated in Thailand:

Chiang Mai flower festival

This festival is celebrated in Thailand on the first weekend of February. This occasion is really special and spectacular in Thailand and a magnificent parade is held along Charoen Muang Road. Not only this, talented specialists also gather to showcase their talents i.e. creations and beautiful miniature gardens.

Loi Krathong

One of the most beautiful festivals celebrated in The Land of smiles. This is a festival which is the celebration of spirit and light and is being celebrated in dark under the full moon in November. "Loi" means "Float" and "Krathong" is "the boat leaves from banana trees”. Thousands of people pull the Krathong on water and make a wish. This also symbolises removing bad events from life.

Songkran water festival

Songkran is the Thai New Year which is celebrated by taking the whole country to the street armed with buckets of water and water pistols. It is a wonderful festival which is seen as cleansing and rejuvenation on starting of a new year. The new year in the country is celebrated in April. Apart from this, housewives clean their homes and wash Buddha images to attract good luck.

Monkey buffet festival

This festival is celebrated on the last Sunday of November where people offer a variety of fruits and vegetables to the monkeys at Phra Prang Sam Yot temple. The city where this occasion is celebrated is in Lopburi. Also, huge monkey statues are temporarily set up.

Phi Tha kon Festival

This festival is also known as the Ghost Mask festival and is celebrated for three days in the province's district of Dan Sai. The story behind this festival is said to be of the time when Lord Buddha returned from the long journey and his followers assumed him to be dead. The festival is celebrated loud enough to wake the dead. People wear large ghost mask and this occasion is loud.
