One of the many many crimes of India, rape has turned out to be one of the most devastating and as the trend says one of the most popular crimes in our developing country.

It has become so common, that almost every day at least one girl is raped, and if we are being honest, the fact is 100% true.

We can’t deny the fact that we are surrounded by rapists and rape victims. Our newspapers speak the proof of it. I can’t remember the last time I read a newspaper and couldn’t find a single case of rape. And if you’re active in social media and other blogging sites, everyday you will find a poetry, article, story related to rape. People are trying to aware the society about how common rape is and then there are many who are making statments ‘ there are better things to talk about, can't you women talk about something else rather than rape and a pussy?’.

We are talking about it because it is happening, and our vagina's don't feel safe.

One of the most devilish crimes of the world is rape.It can happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime. And it is not characterized what you wear, where you live in, what house you’re from, what your age is, how sexy looking curves you have, or at what time you’re roaming the streets.

Rape is committed by a guy who cannot be referred to as a men. Afterall real men don’t rape. But who are we talking about here. Marital rape is the most common case of rape in India. Our parents are practically paying for that rape in the form of so called dowry( oh yeah, it still occurs in majority of the households) and then calling it a custom. So I guess, there should be no doubt why women are raped in india.

They are girls, and hence it makes them eligible to be raped. Afterall you can't rape a guy, right?

Maybe this is why that Bengali aunty who herself wear short dresses had the audacity to say that “women wearing short clothes should be raped” afterall according to her, women wear short dresses to excite men, and hence if they are being raped, there is no fault of the guy, rather the women herself should be blamed for that. That's a perfect thought ,do that, and when babies and oldies and raped, name it an act of psychic as the Rapist Aunty said yesterday.

Iam a Bengali women , and throughout my life I have seen Bengali people as nothing but open minded. We don’t just refer to bengali’s as literate, rather we call them educated, in social words, an intellectual group of people. Now I wouldn’t feel that much of a surprise, had this statement been made by an uneducated illiterate rural guy. People tend to be judgmental when they can't grasp the idea, and hence carry on with their social norms. That's a psychological fact and I have nothing to say against it. But the thing is, rural people are better compared to that rapist Aunty

While living in a city full of customs I have met many people with shrewd mentality. Still nobody had ever made the audacity to say such a cruel statement. Our manners ask us to dress according to the occasion.

We don’t wear bikinis on the main road and we don’t wear heavy lehangas in a beach.

Wearing a casual dress out in the street isn’t ID card or a legal statement saying that you’re eligible to be raped, or as the aunty said, ‘you should be raped’

Usually the ravagers are the vicious creatures,
But today I got to know that Aunty’s inskinny jeans can also be the same.

This reminds me of a poem I wrote last summer:
Late night it was,
That let the girl to be raped.
Populace blamed the family,
That conceded the girl,
To roam on the streets at night.

Day time it was,
That let the girl to be raped.
This time the clothes were found guilty,
That failed to cover her whole body,
When she wore short clothes on the streets.

Western clothes were they,
That let the girl to be raped.
They covered her skin, all too well,
That made them think what was underneath,
When the dress and body was found to be in sync.

Traditionalsaree was it,
That let the girl to be raped.
This time her curves were found at fault,
That made her all too enticing,
When she walked wearing a saree alone.

Alone was she,
When the girl was raped.
This time the rapist was blamed,
Demanded him to be executed,
When the ravager raped the little one.

Society was it,
That blamed the society.
When too many females were already raped,
In the end a lady screamed,
Female is she, That's why she's raped.

Rape is the most poisonous thing to wish for any person.
I remember reading a quote once,

I just want to sleep. A coma would be nice. Or amnesia. Anything just to get rid of this, these thoughts, whispers in my mind. Did he rape my head too?’

Words have power. What we say can affect a person’s life forever. And we should always reflect on what we speak. How can you wish someone something which you can’t even measure yourself? When we make a statement like then we should know the impact that statement is going to make.

You are raped maybe once or twice, but you have to live with it forever.’

That constant fear of someone maybe raping you again, never disappears, many women move on, but there are many who don’t .

There are these voices in my head,
From which I can’t seem to escape
Voices that I screamed last night
When by ‘oh not so many boys’ I was raped.”
