With the final season of Game of thrones finally starting, fans have been coming up with endless theories for how the show would end. The theories are endless and not all of them keep the possibility of coming true but one theory that has been said too many times and still keeps the possibility of being true is that Rhaeghar Targaryen is alive.

In the initial episode of the season one, it is shown that Ned Stark and Robert Barratheon are discussing about the Targaryens. That was the only time we heard of how Rhaeghar died. It isn't shown in the series just talked about.

Robert talks about how he struck Rhaeghar with his hammer and sent all of Rhaghar's rubies flying during the battle of the trident.

Now, why do poeple think that Rhaeghar might be alive and that too as Jaqen H'ghar?

Reason #1 Look at the similarities between both of their names.

H'ghar could easily be derived from Rhaeghar, with the removal of just 'r', 'a' and 'e', it matches, and even rhymes. Rhaeghar Targaryen!

This does seem like too little a base to think upon the possibility of both of them being the same but it isnt the only reason.

Reason #2 What is up with one silver strand of hair?

The only family having silver hair are targaryens. Jaqen has hair that our red with just a strand of silver in them. The red could be reminder of Lyanna, who although had brown hair and silver strand for the reminder who he himself was.

Reason #3 His obsession with Arya

Do not tell me I was the only one who noticed how happy he was making Arya say 'Valar morghulis' as he gave her the coin. He even made her say it twice. It is a known fact now that Rhaeghar loved Lyanna stark. Ned Stark told Arya stark in the initial seasons that she looked like her Aunt Lyanna and even behaved like her. And secondly, Jaqen had many reasons to kill Arya and why would that be in any way hard for him? But instead he let her go. He let her escape and we can notice that many times the waif indicated that Jaqen was partial and lenient towards Arya. Could this be the real clue?

Reason #4 How will Dany believen Jon?

Jon, finally knows his real identity. He is not a bastard but is the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaeghar Targaryen. How does he know it? From Sam, his best friend and the three eyed raven, his brother. Dany has been after the throne since almost the first episode. Almost everything she did was for the throne and to know that she loses it all if there is a male heir to the throne alive, she would need a proof she can really rely on, right?

She has no reason to believe anyone unless she becomes the three eyed raven or suddenly she gets the power of knowing when people are lying and when not.

And the only person who can aid her in believing that Jon is Aegon Targaryen, is Rhaeghar Targaryen. He has to be alive to prove to Dany that Jon is a targaryen, right?

Reason #5 Both Jaqen and Rhaeghar are man of their words.

Rharghar is said to have been a nobleman despite what is being said of him about kidnapping Lyanna stark in the first few seasons. Jaqen is also a man of his words, he paid his debt to Arya.

Reason #6 Why isn't his death scene showed?

Okay, this doesn't sound as much of a reason, but hear me out.

With Bran being able to see in the past AND the future, we are rewarded by some important flashbacks. One of them being the marriage scene of Lyanna and Rhaeghar and the second one being Lyanna handing over Jon (Aegon) to Ned. We even get to see the origings of Hodor. Rhaeghar is a Targaryen and as called by many, 'The last dragon', he has to be a great fighter. No one else is seen talking about Rhaeghar's death scene. Could it be that he either survived it and became a faceless man or if he wasn't even present there in the first place and some other faceless man died at his place?

With only three episodes left, this theory seems highly unlikely, but in the kingdom of westeros, anything could happen.

Discuss in the comments of what you think of this theory.
