Instagram is one of the most popular social media apps among the young generation today. Although people use it as a platform to share their life experiences through pictures, a majority of its users use the app to follow their favourite celebrities and influencers and stay connected to their personal life.

One such most followed and most noted celebrity is Kylie Jenner.
Kylie Kristen Jenner is an American reality television personality, model, entrepreneur and a social media personality. She has starred in Keeping Up with the Kardashians since 2007 and is the owner of Kylie Cosmetics.

An average post of Kylie amasses a minimum of 10 million likes (a rough estimate). The most liked picture on instagram was one of Kylie's pictures that revealed her daughter Stormi to the world for the first time on February 6, 2018. The next most liked post was also by Kylie which was the second photo of her baby which she shared 2 days later.

The 21 year old has 124 million followers whom she keeps updated through her instagram stories.

However , a brown egg was posted to the platform by a Londoner on January 4th.The photograph had the explicit aim of overtaking Jenner’s record breaking birth announcement to become the most-liked post on the service. The picture also received 8 million comments with each comment either appreciating the egg or the account's owner. The picture has received an estimated 45 million likes getting past Kylie by 27 million likes and to become the number 1.

Egg Gang is not the only user to have attempted to amass a huge number of likes or followers with a joke account or simple post. On Twitter,Half an Onionamassed 635,000 followers in an attempt to overtake the popularity of Donald Trump’s account. And, as Taylor Lorenz documents over atThe Atlantic, there are numerous other Instagram accounts whichpost identical photographs every dayin an attempt to quickly gain followers.

However Kylie who felt pissed off for being beaten by a "mere egg' posted a video to the platform to clap back at the egg that showcased her breaking an egg on the road and captioned the funny video "take that little egg". And the race continues.
