I often hear people say, reading is boring. Well, I have a different opinion. Reading books gives me immense joy. It takes me to another world, allows me to experience things that I definitely would not come across in my life. When I read a book, I picture that book in my head. I often feel that I am watching a movie. Therefore, I really can’t understand why people find books boring. Maybe, they did not find the right book yet, which is very important because different people have different tastes. If you haven’t, then you must find it, because you are missing out a lot.

Moving on, my favourite genres of books are mystery and adventure, though I read all sorts of books, such books are always on top of my list. Some of the best books I have read are a part of series of books. A few of my favourite series are:

1.The Harry Potter series

By J.K Rowling

The Harry Potter series is one of the most popular series. The 7 book series creates a world of its own that is loved by many. It is a world of magic. Who would not wish to be a part of such world! Overall, the book is about magic, friendship, love, school life and is filled with the most exciting adventures. I personally believe that if you have not read this, you are missing out on a lot of fun and adventure.

2.The Percy Jackson series

By Rick Riordan

Another favourite series of mine is the Percy Jackson series. Percy Jackson revolves around Greek mythology, set in the present. If Harry Potter is about magic, this series is about demigods, or simply put, half God – half mortal beings and their super powers. As demigods are the children of Gods, they possess special abilities (they train at Camp Half-Blood to enhance these abilities). Each book in the series is an adventure Percy and his friends embark on, which is very exciting.

3.The Heroes of Olympus series

By Rick Riordan

The sequel to the Percy Jackson series, this series introduces new characters, some of them being Roman demigods. The Roman demigods train at another camp, called Camp Jupiter. In this series, it is revealed that the two camps, Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter have rivalry between them. The series shows how the demigods from both the camps come together and defeat the giants. As a sequel of the Percy Jackson series, it surely does not disappoint.

4.The Kane Chronicles

By Rick Riordan

Coming from the same author as the above two series, the Kane Chronicles is about Egyptian mythology, set in the current world. The protagonists, the Kane siblings are revealed to be descendants of Egyptian Gods, who set out to find their father and defeat the god of chaos Apophis. You might think that it is similar to the Percy Jackson series and the Heroes of Olympus series, because that’s what I thought before reading it. But, it is completely different from both the series, and you will definitely love it if you are a fan of adventures, and fantasies.

5.The Naturals

By Jennifer Lynn Barnes

The Naturals is a series about teenagers who possess “natural abilities” like profiling, detecting lies, etc. They are recruited into a special FBI program and help the FBI solve cold cases. The leading character is Cassie, who is a natural profiler. She and her friends as a part of the FBI program solve cold cases. If you love thrillers and suspense, this is definitely a must read.

Hope you enjoy these series. Happy reading!
