“Time heals everything.”
Yeah, you have heard that phrase many a time I guess. This saying has been there for a long time. We get to see it in so many articles, blogs and on social media too. You might believe it too but actually, it is partly a lie.

Yeah, time doesn’t always heal everything. You cannot control time, predict the time and tell it what to do and when. Time is unstoppable and things happening to you are inevitable. What time does is that it keeps ticking-‘Tick-tock’. It tells us how time is slipping away from our hands..how it keeps moving on. It tells us how much time we have in our hands and nothing more. It doesn’t heal wounds.

What I am trying to say is this. Time doesn’t heal us. We heal ourselves. Time just reminds us that our priority lies in the present and not in our past. We need to act accordingly. If we sit back and keep reminiscing about our past, we would never be able to heal from them. Instead, we would keep going back to those times and keep hurting ourselves.

Now let me tell you what time it does. When something hurtful occurs to us, we think about it. We get upset. Sometimes, we cry. There are a bunch of emotions that keep going in our heads during those so-called ‘hard times’ we face.

Well, as time passes by, things change. Emotions change. What we felt back at that time, we might not feel that today. Things that hurt us back then might even matter to us today. We don't hate the person with the same intensity we used to hate them with ten years back. We might cry days and nights over something today, but it won’t be so tomorrow.

Time only buries your problems and hides it from your conscious mind but it still remains inside your sub-conscious mind and reminds you from time to time.

So rather than simply waiting for time to ‘heal’ you, try to heal yourself instead. Do what you are passionate about. Do the things you love. If you do what you love the most, you won’t even need to be ‘healed.’ Stay strong. Time will aid your healing if you start forgetting about the pain. Get out there and do something for yourself. Something for your passion. Only then can you heal the pain you have kept inside you for long.
