Are you someone that spends an awful amount of time in front of a brightly lit screen? Are you heavily invested in social media or day to day work from home? If so, I think I have something to talk about here that can help you gain some time in your hands. Is that interesting enough to grab your attention?

This is my personal experience and I hope many of us can relate to this. The last two years of all our lives have been in shambles, more for some than others. This whirlwind of Corona Virus will take such a toll on our lives was least expected by any of us.

It is said that time has the power to destroy and heal you. Its about time the healing process began. From College to landing a job to getting very sick and now fully recovered. I will say 2019-2020-2021 taught me so much about life and time and value of family and friends.

I am a very socially active person, virtually. I currently work a lot of hours in front of my laptop and simultaneously waste a lot of them in front of my mobile. For instance, Instagram and Netflix are two of my top entertainment venues. I like to interact and post on the first while watch and enjoy new stories on the other. What I lost in the process is my grasp on time. Does that happen to you too?

I really did not have a sleep schedule and kept on going to back to these platform. I was convincing myself on the fact that the time I am using here is my “free time” . Initially it was 5 minute but gradually it turned into hours. I realized, I was losing grip on my time.

I realized that this is turning into a habit I did not want. Not only was I losing concentration on my work but also the track of my priorities. So, what I did to improve upon it is I started a “Social Achievement Points Program“ for myself.

Social Achievement Points Program has 4 rules and 3 ground rules.

  1. Whatever you classify as “work” will give you a “reward” .

  2. Every physical activity (cardio/gym/cycling/jogging) gives you a “reward”.

  3. Whatever you classify as “free time” can only be achieved if you have gained a “reward”.

  4. You can enjoy your “free time” by going on social media or outside.

    Ground rules

    • 1 hour work = 0.5 reward point.

    • 1 hour of physical activity = 1 reward point .

    • 1 reward point = 15 or 20 minutes of free time.

I have been following this process for a month now and it has done great for my sleep and eyes. I am also able to do my work and workout quite regularly without any overthinking.

What do you think about this plan ? Is it too complex or its easy to do and also makes a lot of sense? Tell me your thoughts about this in the comments and I am curious if you have any thoughts on this??

Do tell me in the chat or you can email me at ashutoshsinghe@gmail.com.
