Truth will set you free, it will help you on your path of recovery is what they say. But does truth really set you free? Is telling the truth always the wise thing to do? Don't you think the truth sometimes does more harm than good? Human beings have secrets, good or bad. There are no saints in this world. Everyone has done something bad, has committed a mistake which they don't want the others to know in fear of being judged.

Telling the truth has broken several mariages, relationships as well as friendships. Yet, since childhood all we have learnt about truth is that it is a pure thing and telling the truth is the right thing to do. Why? You commit one mistake and everything you did in the past goes up in ashes, suddenly you are the bad person, you are the person who lied. Why do I tell the truth if it will come to bite me in the future? Is it not better to continue living my life without telling others about my mistakes, without showing off my flaws ,the error in my judgement? The answer is no it is not. You can't continue to live your life pretending like it never happened. You know why? Because truth is a nasty little thing which has the habit of popping up when you least expect it. No secret ever remains a secret, the truth always comes out.

It doesn't matter if it sets you free or not you have to tell the truth because there is no such thing as taking a secret to your grave. Truth is a finicky little bastard and it does damage a lot of things and if it were in your hands you could probably lie. But you only lie now to get the rug pulled from under you in the future and you might just end up with a broken hip.

From what I have learnt you can’t escape life,
Your words and actions cut deeper than a knife,
Is the process of healing real
or is it just a tale?
To take away the misery of the light-hearted and the pale;
The truth is a bitter dose of medicine,
And a lie is like a glass of wine,
Your fate is in your hands
To choose to suffer or be fair and fine,
But does the truth always bring you peace
Does the pain and suffering finally cease?
Or is it just better that the truth be unspoken
Revelations can sometimes leave you wretched and broken.
