I opened my eyes to see the world for the first time
The happiness my parents and family had seeing me smile
And just like that, a day passed by
Walking on the floor that felt like a playground
Tiny feet tapping here and there
Like a car getting to know the track
Shifting from the 1st to the 5th gear
And just like that, a day passed by
First time stepping into the school
Crying with a heavy bag on
My brother looking at me clueless
Like what in the world is going on
And just like that, a day passed by
Seeing kids turning into teenage girls and boys
Getting to see books more than toys
Thinking when the exams will end
and when can we get back to our childish joys
And just like that, a day passed by
Leaving the gates of the school where ten years passed by
A whole new world waiting for us to explore
Where new teachers and textbooks are waiting for us
Behind a huge, unfamiliar door
And just like that, a day passed by
The next 5 years spent felt like 5 seconds
The unknown faces became known friends
When we have to leave just when we got comfortable
Searching for a seat at our career table
And just like that, a day passed by
When the boring chapters in our college turn into practical lessons
When searching for jobs was like a scavenger hunt
Where submitting resumes became a daredevil stunt
And just like that, a day passed by
Sitting in front of the laptop, we always say
Let things come as they may
Having just one thought at the back of our minds
Wish we were kids playing without worries back in the day
And just like that, a day passed by
We do not know what the future might hold
Like a mystery novel yet to unfold
Months and years will pass
Someday, we will say, sitting on the grass
And just like that, a day passed by
It's been 3 months into 2023 already
and 13 months since I wrote my last article
Here I am back after a break
But it's fine because
Just like that, a day passed by
