For non-inflation adjusted revenues, Avatar with collections of $2.78 billion is the highest grossing Hollywood movies. Thus far no Bollywood movie has reached close to the elusive $1billion mark.

The production costs of Hollywood movies are much higher compared to Bollywood movies. “Bahubali 2: The Conclusion” is the most expensive Bollywood movie released till date with a total production cost of $36 million. Hollywood is known for spending big on movies. The Pirates of the Caribbean is the most expensive Hollywood movie with a total budget of $378 million. Hence, the movie budget and production cost in Hollywood is many times higher than Bollywood.
Movie Duration
The movie duration in Bollywood is between 2-3 hours. On the other hand, Hollywood movies are much shorter between 1.5-2 hours. The movies in Bollywood have dance and songs which tends to lengthen the movie duration. These movies also have deeper and complex subplots, love and romance all clubbed together in a package.
Earning for Leading Actors
The highest paid actors in Bollywood are the three Khans- Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan. Shah Rukh Khan is the highest paid actor with average annual earnings of approximately $33 million according to Forbes. The highest paid actress in Bollywood is Deepika Padukone with annual earnings of about $10 million. The earnings are much better in Hollywood. Dwayne Johnson and Jackie Chan earn an average of $64.50 million and $61 million while Matt Damon has an average paycheck of $55 million. Jennifer Lawrence is the highest paid actress with annual earnings of $46 million.
