Dear 15 year old me,
A few things for you to know so that when you enter the adult phase of your life you reminiscence all those bittersweet memories and be grateful.
1. School is fun, don't exhaust your brain with exam pressure.
Grades don't shape your life. It's just a phase. So enjoy it because school life can never be relived. Bunk classes (just don’t let anyone know), make fun of teachers, sit on the last bench and maybe skip doing your homework once in a while (never miss a chance to stand outside the class with your best friend as punishment). Also, don't forget to eat or rather finish your lunch before the lunch break.
2. Learn extracurricular activities and explore.
Explore your horizons, broaden them and shape them. Learning is part of growing. Read, write, paint, dance, listen to music. Do what your heart tells you to do.
3. The boy/girl in your class or in your neighborhood isn't your true love/life partner.
Ok. Just don't summon your entire world around a boy or a girl at this age. It's ok to get into relationships at this age but don't take breakups on your heart too much. He/she isn't the only one for you ( Also, oxygen is seriously more important than him/her, so don't use this line "I can't live without you").
4. Sex and kissing
Sex and kissing, do fascinate a lot at this age but don't do anything stupid. Always be careful.
5. Insecurity
Being insecure about one thing or the other is pretty normal at this age. Try to feel comfortable in your skin. It is a lot more difficult than it sounds, but keep trying and one day you will succeed (believe me). Just give yourself the liberty to take risks and learn. Do things that make you uncomfortable and soon nothing will make you feel out of sorts.
6. Don't hate your parents
It's ok if they are yelling at you for not waking up on time or not doing your homework or not allowing you to attend a friend's party. Don't hate them. They might try and fail at being your friend but they are trying to be as much understanding as possible. So appreciate them and always give them a hug.
7. Make mistakes and learn
It's ok if you didn't score well in exams or you lost a match or a competition. We all make mistakes and it’s part of our life. Learn from your mistakes and then grow up to be stronger and better.
8. Don't lose hope
Even if things aren't going your way right now that doesn't mean there won't be any Narnia door for you. Just say Alohomora and open your gate of hopes. Things will start going your way at the time you least expect it, so don't panic and make yourself a cup of coffee and go with the flow.
Smile for no reason
Yours lovingly,
20-year-old self
