Yes, I do bleed
Why do you tell that I’m not pure
I do bleed for a cause
I bleed to prove that I’m well
I’m not a sin
Why do you humiliate me
Why do you ask we to stay away from temples where there are female Goddesses inside
Will you keep your god out when she bleeds?
Why don’t you let me walk into the kitchen when you force me to enter it on other days
These are the things that every girl thinks about when she have her periods even in this so called civilized generation

In our country it is a sin to even say out that a girl has her periods
They treat her as dirt
They tend to tease her
Though it is a natural phenomenon people don’t accept it as it is
The problem with periods is faced in many countries
In many countries there is no access to sanitary products and girls still use clothes or banana leaves

This causes urinary tract infections and sometimes severe complications
In many countries across the globe it is considered dirty and repulsive
In some countries it is considered as a sign of ‘loss of virginity’
In some countries girls are asked to leave their homes
This may seem as injustice
Many girls don’t tell out the problems they face
This is the time when a girl needs special care and attention
Even if she is not given special care, she must at least be treated as human
In most of the places girls are treated even under the human line
What is the reason behind it?
Why do we have period poverty in such a developed world?
When we speak about poverty we generally think only about food, water and money. In many countries girls are facing problems related to periods. When there is lack of sanitary items it is called period poverty. Think of yourself to be a young teen girl who feels guilty to ask her parents for a pad, who does not have money to buy food. People in such places use other alternatives which have a very bad impact on their health.

We as the responsible citizens of our country can try to help such people out of it. There are many people to buy them food but there is no one to help girls out of it. A small help from us can bring about a greater change in their lives
