  और जब तुम लोग बाहम क़ौल व क़रार कर लिया करो तो ख़ुदा के एहदो पैमान को पूरा करो और क़समों को उनके पक्का हो जाने के बाद न तोड़ा करो हालॉकि तुम तो ख़ुदा को अपना ज़ामिन बना चुके हो जो कुछ भी तुम करते हो ख़ुदा उसे ज़रुर जानता है

• And when We made with you a covenant and caused the Mount to tower above you,: Hold fast by that which We have given you, and hear, they said: We hear and we rebel. And the calf was made to sink into their hearts because of their rejection. Say: Evil is that which your belief enjoineth on you, if ye are believers.
  और जब हमने तुमसे अहद लिया और तूर को तुम्हारे सर पर लटकाया और जो हमने दी है मज़बूती से लिए रहो और सुनो तो कहने लगे सुना तो हम इसको मानते नहीं और उनकी बेईमानी की वजह से बछड़े की उलफ़त घोल के उनके दिलों में पिला दी गई उन लोगों से कह दो कि अगर तुम ईमानदार थे तो तुमको तुम्हारा ईमान क्या ही बुरा हुक्म करता था

• And those who violate the covenant of Allah after the ratification thereof, and sunder that which Allah hath commanded to be conjoined, and act corruptly in the earth - - these! unto them is a curse, and unto them shall be the evil Abode.
  और जो लोग ख़ुदा से एहद व पैमान को पक्का करने के बाद तोड़ डालते हैं और जिन के क़ायम रखने का ख़ुदा ने हुक्म दिया है उन्हें क़तआ करते हैं और रुए ज़मीन पर फ़साद फैलाते फिरते हैं ऐसे ही लोग हैं जिनके लिए लानत है और ऐसे ही लोगों के वास्ते बड़ा घर है

• We made a covenant with the Children of Israel: “ Worship none but God ; and be good to parents, and relatives, and orphans, and the needy ; and speak nicely to people ; and pray regularly, and give alms. ” Then you turned away, except for a few of you, recanting.
  और याद करो जब इसराईल की सन्तान से हमने वचन लिया," अल्लाह के अतिरिक्त किसी की बन्दगी न करोगे ; और माँ - बाप के साथ और नातेदारों के साथ और अनाथों और मुहताजों के साथ अच्छा व्यवहार करोगे ; और यह कि लोगों से भली बात कहो और नमाज़ क़ायम करो और ज़कात दो ।" तो तुम फिर गए, बस तुममें से बचे थोड़े ही, और तुम उपेक्षा की नीति ही अपनाए रहे

• How can there be a covenant with those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity be binding upon Allah and His Messenger, excepting those with whom you made a covenant near the Sacred Mosque ? Behave in a straight manner with them so long as they behave with you in a straight manner for Allah loves the Godfearing.
  मुशरिकीन ने ख़ुद एहद शिकनी की तो उन का कोई एहदो पैमान ख़ुदा के नज़दीक और उसके रसूल के नज़दीक क्योंकर रह सकता है मगर जिन लोगों से तुमने खानाए काबा के पास मुआहेदा किया था तो वह लोग तुमसे क़ायम रखना चाहें तो तुम भी उन से क़ायम रखो बेशक ख़ुदा परहेज़ करने वालों को दोस्त रखता है

• Is it not that every time they make a covenant, some party among them throw it aside ? Nay! the truth is most of them believe not.
  और उनकी ये हालत है कि जब कभी कोई अहद किया तो उनमें से एक फरीक़ ने तोड़ डाला बल्कि उनमें से अक्सर तो ईमान ही नहीं रखते

• So Moses returned to his people full of anger and regret." O my people," he said," did not your Lord make you a better promise ? Did the time of covenant seem too long to you ? Or did you wish the wrath of your Lord to fall upon you that you broke the promise you had made to me ?"
  तब मूसा अत्यन्त क्रोध और खेद में डूबा हुआ अपनी क़ौम के लोगों की ओर पलटा । कहा," ऐ मेरी क़ौम के लोगों! क्या तुमसे तुम्हारे रब ने अच्छा वादा नहीं किया था ? क्या तुमपर लम्बी मुद्दत गुज़र गई या तुमने यही चाहा कि तुमपर तुम्हारे रब का प्रकोप ही टूटे कि तुमने मेरे वादे के विरुद्ध आचरण किया ?"

• But they broke their covenant ; and they rejected the signs of God ; and put the prophets to death without justification, and said," Our hearts are sealed." It is God who has sealed their hearts, on account of their denial of the truth. Except for a few of them, they have no faith.
  फिर उनके अपने एहद तोड़ डालने और एहकामे ख़ुदा से इन्कार करने और नाहक़ अम्बिया को क़त्ल करने और इतरा कर ये कहने की वजह से कि हमारे दिलों पर ग़िलाफ़ चढे हुए हैं बल्कि ख़ुदा ने उनके कुफ़्र की वजह से उनके दिलों पर मोहर कर दी है तो चन्द आदमियों के सिवा ये लोग ईमान नहीं लाते

• Then whosoever shall turn away from this covenant they are the transgressors.
  और तुम्हारे साथ मैं भी एक गवाह हूं फिर उसके बाद जो शख्स मुंह फेरे तो वही लोग बदचलन हैं

• After them succeeded an generation: They inherited the Book, but they chose the vanities of this world, saying:" will be forgiven us.", if similar vanities came their way, they would seize them. Was not the covenant of the Book taken from them, that they would not ascribe to Allah anything but the truth ? and they study what is in the Book. But best for the righteous is the home in the Hereafter. Will ye not understand ?
  फिर उनके बाद कुछ जानशीन हुए जो किताब के तो वारिस बने नापाक कमीनी दुनिया के सामान ले लेते हैं कहते हैं कि हम तो अनक़रीब बख्श दिए जाएंगें अगर उनके पास भी वैसा ही ले ही लें क्या उनसे किताब का एहदो पैमान नहीं लिया गया था कि ख़ुदा पर सच के सिवा नहीं कहेगें और जो कुछ उस किताब में है उन्होनें पढ़ लिया है और आख़िर का घर तो उन्हीं लोगों के वास्ते ख़ास है जो परहेज़गार हैं तो क्या तुम
