Normal is considered boring and being different generates the fear of judgement and grabbing eyeballs. I think we as a society are really confused about what we really want- whether to fit in or be different!

All our lives, right from our childhood we try to fit in with our peers and environment so that we are not considered alien and are not left lonely. This urge for acceptance is something that holds us back from being our true selves. We want to avoid being judged or looked at differently for any possible reason. Basically we prefer to lose a part of ourselves by being one among the others. However, this also leads to frustration and being valueless as we are no different.

It is only at later stage in our lives do we realize that the characteristic or the quality we suppressed to blend in, was what that could have actually worked for us. It could have made us unique and noticeable. We could have been exceptional and someone who could have been looked upon for the behavior and the mannerism, we readily let go of for the fear of being unaccepted.

I think it is each day that we make a choice of either being normal and unnoticed or being exceptional and amazing. I think it’s important to understand who we are and what we stand for. It is important to respect ourselves and not let the burden of fitting in, take away the beauty of standing out! We should not lower our standards but rather aim to stand out and set standards. Hence, “Stand Out” and show the world what you got instead of putting efforts to be normal and being lost in the crowd. Take pride in being YOU and STAND OUT as we are all different and unique.
