The William and Flora Hewlett foundation along with the institute of international education awards a two year dissertation fellowships in population, economic development and reproductive health and the sub topics might include how population, reproduction rate affect economic development, including economic growth, poverty reduction and equity.

Requirements for research

The research must include a strong quantitativecomponent and lots of data analysis, plus importance is given to development or use of new statistical methods. Those students currently studying geography, economics, economic demography and epidemiology are specially encouraged.

Awards

Maximum amount $ 20,000 which depends on tuition, research, and cost of living. This will be for the two years to cover expenses incurred while working on the dissertation.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to all the Doctoral students in the above mentioned fields. But the topic of dissertations must include development and population. Students must have completed their graduate course work, before the beginning of the scholarship and must be studying in any one of the following - Sub- saharan Africa, the US or Canada.
