It also holds quite low values in terms of their fat and cholestrol content. They also have omega 3 fatty acids. Cod liver oil is extremely beneficial to humans.

  • Tofu: This item is extremely common when it comes to traditional Japanese dishes such as sukiyaki, etc. Made of soybean and used in many areas as a substitute for cottage cheese( the indian equivalent for this is paneer), it is sumptuous, healthy and is a rich source of fibre.

  • Beans: Though for some they inadvertently cause gas and bloating, beans are a wide variety of edible leguminous seeds. Amongst the popular ones in India are rajma, chickpea, urad, chola, and so on. They are consumed more in the form of a soup, or dal, as we Indians call it

  • Spinach: Remember, Pop-Eye, the Sailor Man? How could we forget? Though it works in a spectacularly different fashion as illustrated in the classic cartoon, spinach contains a high amount of iron, calcium, magnesium; it also prevents asthma and aids in the development of bones. Several studies suggest it helps manage diabetes as well.
