Is It Really Westernization?

Jeans,shorts,burgers & pepsi!!! A delight to have these all.But is it really??

The youngsters are doing bizarre stuffs in the name of modernity.The adoption of western values and ideologies seems to be the only ideal way of living for the youngsters and they would go to any extent for the maintenance of it.

The concept behind looking up to western countries in order to upgrade our lifestyle has become the call of the masses.But what we miss out here is the logic behind the same.

Rationality and thinking logically is right but going overboard with the western values is something to be questioned.First world countries and third world countries are poles apart from each other.Both of the zones have their own qualities,cultures, technologies and resources.

A following up of the same culture worldwide would not only threaten the other cultures but will also lead to 'Cultural Homogenisation'.

Somewhere it feels that we are again under the rule of a western country where we are copying their choices, values,eating habits, dressing sense and lifestyle.Inspite of being wholly free and independent,we are still trapped by Western countries ideologically and culturally.

The western countries like USA lack natural resources but have abundance of human resources and advance technology.Most of the third world countries have the benefit of natural resources while lacking human resources(or will have in future).They had their own traditions and cultures which used to differ alot from the west.

Why do we have to keep on following every trend that comes from the west? Without even realising that its not something we actually want to do.Comparing everything with a western perspective is not always reasonable.

The young masses are taking modernity in a wrong sense.Modernity is more about rational thinking and logical ideas rather than irrelevant imitation of a country which is much more advance to us in many ways.

For instance, we use candles in a march protest or in general for birthdays.Do you know that candle wax produces harmful gases while melting? It leads to deterioration of environment as well.Lighting clay lamps or 'Diya' was not just a mere tradition of Diwali but a local way of Indians for lighting up their houses.They were much more rational than the present generation in most of the cases.

There are lot more examples like that and contradictions but the masses have become so blind to see them.In reality, modernization has just become a imitation of advance countries.An imitation where no rationality is needed, thinking the other to be more wise than self.

We need to realise that acting cool and being wise are two extremely different concepts.Its not about how modern you can get but how more rational thinking you can adopt in yourself while taking an inspiration from west.
