Yes cinema can be many things- an alternative reality, a historical narrative, a social critique and many other things. Thus it has multiple personality. But here we do not consider it to be a disorder.

The dedicated lovers of cinema don’t consider language to be a barrier in cinematic experience. Malayalam movie industry, nicknamed as Mollywood, has a wide variety of good movies to oofer. For a movie lover it would be an absolute loss to miss out on these outstanding movies.

1. Nirmalyam

Directed by M T Vasudevan Nair, nirmalyam is an old movie in black and while. But it has contemporary significance for the brutalcritique of religion it offers

2. Piravi

Directed by Shaji N Karun, the movie is considered to be a masterpiece in Malayalam winning at least 31 awards at different occasions. The story depicts the real life of Prof. Eechara Warrirr whose son was murdered by the police in custody during the emergency. Piravi is the hope of a father for his only son

3. Munnariyippu

Directed by Venu, the cinema unfold the mysterious character of Raghavan, a prisoner claiming his innocence. The story takes a turn with a journalist entering his life.

4. Kammattippadam

Directed by Rajeev Ravi, Kammattippadam tells the story of the village Kammattippadam and it’s transformation for development. The story is a representation of how the marginalised( the original owners of the land) are left behind development

5. 24 North Latham

Directed by Anil Radhakrishnam this road movie is the tale of a transformation to Harikrishnan, software engineer. The various happenings during the journey transforms him from a selfish introvert with OCD to a social human being

6. Maheshinte Prathikaram

The story set in Idukki village famous for its scenic beauty. As the name suggests it revolves around the revenge of the central character Mahesh. Watch the movie to know what the revenge was and how he fulfilled it!

7. Kumbalangi Nights

Directed by Madhu C Narayanan, the movie set in Kumbalangi tells the story of four brothers. It also sets a model for its strong women characters.
