Since my childhood my elder sister has been consistently saying me that don't get too much stressed for your exam. Just prepare 70% of your syllabus and you will clear that exam. However I never understood her logic till the time I was preparing for CAT. Since I was quite restless for my second attempt I gave up and decided to leave all those topics that I found non-interesting. I just prepared rest other parts properly and to my surprise CAT 2017 was smooth for me. I was shocked that whole life I have spent completing the whole syllabus and this time when I have just skipped a major chunk still I have scored pretty good marks.
It was not my luck that I got lucky and got only those questions that were easy for me
actually this time I was quite clear that which question I don't have to opt, this thing saved my time and I had proper time to solve those questions that were solvable for me.
So in this blog I am going to explain 80-20 Principle also known as Pareto Principle or the law of vital few. It says that 80% of results comes from 20% of your effort. It is one of the most helpful rule for life and time management. We can apply this rule in every aspect of our life. But before this one has to prioritize, firstmake a chart in the ascending order of their priority in life and then out of these take out top 20% task which you find are most important for you. Focus on these 20% and you will achieve success in most of the domain of your life. But one rule for this is that you have to resist your temptation to clear up small things first. If you choose to start your day with a low value task, you will be acqainted to the habit of starting and working on low value tasks forever. Be it strategic management in corporate world or relationship mangement at home, apply 20% effort to most important stuffs and gain 80% of satisfaction along with happiness as free gift hamper.
