Your mind is your instrument. Learn to be it's master and not it's slave. - Remez Sasson
We often hear, calm yourselves by meditation. But not many know the right way of meditating.
Well, there's no such right or wrong way to do it. Whatever makes you feel calm and helps you in sorting out your thoughts, that will do.
Here are 5 easy steps to help you get started with your meditation.
1. Create time and space.
Out of your busy schedule, you have to take out time for practicing meditation. You must to choose a regular time each day for meditation practice. I really a quiet place free from distraction. Also you can set a timer. in the beginning start with just 5 minutes and is your way up to 15 to 40 minutes.
2. Find a comfortable sitting position, and check your posture.
In order to practice a successful meditation you must choose a comfortable sitting position. You can sit cross legged on the floor, on the grass, or in a chair with your feet flat on the ground. Sit up straight, hands in a comfortable position. Keep neck long, chin tilted slightly downward, relax your shoulders, close your eyes or gate downword 5 to 10 feet in front of you. You must maintain disposal all the while you are meditating.
3. Take deep breath and direct attention to your breath.
Deep breathing helps settle the body and establish your presence in the space. Focus on a part of the body where the breath feels prominent; nostrils or back of the throat.
Maintain attention to your breath as you inhale and exhale, focus on the breath. If attention wanders, return to the breadth. Let go of thoughts, feelings or distractions.
4. Be kind to yourself.
For the duration of meditation session, the mind will wander, simply acknowledge this and return to your breath.
Don't be upset if focus occasionally drift or if you fall asleep. If you are very tired, meditate with eyes open and rearrange poster to more erect (but still relaxed) position.
5. Prepare for a soft landing.
When the timer goes off, keep your eyes closed until you are ready to open them. Express gratitude. Acknowledge your practice and feel relaxed.
I hope these steps will help you develop the practice of meditation.
Good Luck 👍
