When the whole world is silent even one voice becomes powerful
– Malala Yousafzai
We update our status on Facebook with Malala’s quotes andlikeher on social media… but when was the last time that we actively made an effort in making a difference? Do we really know her journey and actions?
Malala Yousafzai is awoman who had the audacity to raise her voice against the Taliban to fight for girl education and peace. Her brave endeavours inspire many other individuals across the globe. She hopes to make her nation and the world a perfect epitome of peace, brotherhood and happiness. It won’t be wrong saying that she’s the living eigth wonder of this world.
Yousafzai was born to a Pashtun Yousafzai family in Mingora, Pakistan. Her family came to run a chain of schools in the region.Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Benazir Bhutto are her role models. She was particularly inspired by her father’s thoughts and humanitarian work.
On 9 October 2012 in a bus in Swat district, after taking an exam, Malala and two other girls were shot by a Taliban gunman in an assassination attempt in retaliation of her activism for girls education.
Yousafzai was hit in the head and remainedunconscious and criticalat the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology. She was then transferred to the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham, UK.
Malala continued with her crusade and advocated the importance of education for the girls despite the trauma. After Malala delivered an impassioned speech at the UN headquarters on the need for gender equality in education on July 12, 2013, the day has been declared as the world Malala day by the UN. She was born on the 12th of July as well.
Within a short span of time, Malala has not only won many awards and accolades including the Nobel Peace Prizebut has also become an empowering voice.
In early 2009, she began blogging for BBC aboutthe Taliban’s threatening her to discontinue her an education. With a growing platform she continued to speak about her right and of all other women to an education. She has been felicitated with numerous accolades for her great work.
She says that she isn’t just Malala but she’s the voice of every girl who’s deprived of education. She fears seeing her future encaged in a prison of four walls, sitting near the stove, just burning her dreams on it!
The Malala amplifies the voice of women around the world where they are deprived of secondary education. The Gulmakai network strives to invest in local advocates, communities and educators in promoting secondary education.
Now, appreciating her is one thing but honestly introspecting over that is another. What is our contribution to the society? That girl went through so much torment but still never gave up because she wants to change the face of the world which is just gulping humanity and masquerading lives in the name of religion.
Today we get opportunities still we don’t
value them. We keep on complaining and time goes by…
Dear folks, its high time now! We need to channelize our energy in a right way and make the best out of it. Taliban sets a perfectly wrong example of power but what are we doing? Not using our abilities and not using the energy is equally wrong!
Every person has a significant impact in this world. You’re not ordinary in any way. But by not trying to figure out your purpose in this world, you’re committing a great sin by pulling down the world from the progressive path! Please don’t. Living a nauseated and threatened life is the toughest job. Death is much more beautiful than that. So if there are agonies, won’t it be better to voice against it and make life what it is, A living journey?!
Malala is a committed person who wants to see every child getting quality education. When her world suddenly changed, her priorities changed too. She had two options- One was to remain silent and wait to be killed and second was to speak up and then be killed! She chose the latter. She embraces the voices of all the girls who yearn to get educated in life. She wants the world to promote child education. Let no child be deprived of education!
