Consistent is the key to almost every goal a person has for his or her body protocol.
Some Quick tips on how to stay consistent are mentioned below:
I was always stuck in this "more is better" mentality when it came to diets during my morbidly obese days. I guess I wasn't 100% wrong. Technically more is always better. But it's only better if you could keep up with it consistently, because if you don't keep up with it consistently, then in the long term it's not really more at all. And short term more really doesn't mean much.
Losing 1 kg a month seems super slow, but over a year if you keep it up consistently, that's 12kg gone permanently. It feels long to say one year, but then some people would be making a new year's resolution to lose weight one year, and before they knew it they would be making another new year's resolution again with zero progress to show.
Here's a quick list of things that could help you with consistency:
1) Make one change at a time. Juggling too many things at once tends to feel overwhelming, and when one thing collapses, it tends to bring everything down with it. Make one goal at a time and follow it.
2) Set up your surroundings to help. Have a snacking problem? Try to keeps snacks away from you. Clear your home of snacks. Keep forgetting to drink water? Keep a water bottle with you at all times to make it easier to remember and drink immediately. The small changes in your lifestyle can bring vast differences within you.
3) Rely on habits. Motivation will come and go. Habits will keep going even when we're not thinking about it. Create small patterns one at a time. Motivation makes us start a thing; it is a habit that makes us keep going until we reach our goal.
4) Plan ahead. A lot of times where I got in trouble is when I make decisions on the spot. Of course, there are many situations where you can't plan ahead, but there are plenty that you can too. The less certainty there is in your diet, the less likely you will "fall off the wagon."
5) Don't aim for perfection. Perfect doesn't exist. Perfect is a myth. There's always room to improve. Aim to be a tiny part better each time.
6) Choose a diet/exercise that you enjoy. Everything works. Choosing the one you experience will be the one you can stick to the longest.
