Love is the best feeling in the world. True love knows no caste, creed or gender. It should be the base of humanity. Throughout ages movies have been portraying society as it is and trying to adjust this prism to provide us a clearer view. One such important genre everyone should watch is LGBT movies. First of all they are aesthetically beautiful. Realistic approach, intrigue plotline and socially important messages, are the distinguished characteristics which complete this genre. Here are few movies that bring out homosexuality in the most artistic way.

Blue is the warmest colour: This movie narrates the tale of dynamic love between a teen and an art college student. Within two hours it provides much more than a lesbian love story. From a different perspective the movie is all about Adele and her journey and how for a brief moment Emma becomes a part of her journey. The ending is significant since the director chooses to let the second half focus on their separation. Overall it will teach how lesbian love is nothing absurd or different.

Call me by your name : Based on the novel by Andre Aciman, Call Me By Your Name gives you the feel of the first love. It is all about Elio and his realization about his sexual orientation. He is attracted towards his father’s assistant. The picaresque beauty of the location is just a cherry on top. But above all what makes the movie worth watching is how sexual desire is portrayed here. Elio’s attraction towards his friend then towards the male assistant depicts sexual urges from multiple perspectives. After their brief moment of togetherness Oliver requests Elio , “call me by your name, and I’ll call you by mine.” reminds us of Plato’s Symposium (finding other half).

Love, Simon: Gay movies have always been quite serious in its tone and presentation, but Love, Simon is something new. Based on Simon vs Homo Sapiens Agenda, by Becky Albertalli it is tender, sweet with a picture of changing society. Simon, a teenager, loved by his friends and family comes out of the closest.

Brokeback Mountain : Powerful, heartbreaking and emotional Brokeback Mountain is a story of two men and their shared time. Jack and Ennis spend some time in the mountains tending sheep. They part and get married and get settled in their lives, until after few years Jack goes to visit Ennis, and they start from where they left making the condition even more complicated, since homosexuality was a cardinal sin of that time.

Moonlight : Academy Award winning Moonlight is a question of identity. Based on three initial parts of a black man Chiron, it is an epic journey towards manhood in African- American society. Social norms and regulations have great impact on cinemas. Their significances are even more profound when they try to question certain issues. And these movies undoubtedly portrayed love in the most beautiful way.
