In 2018, India declared a plastic ban where non-reusable plastic was not allowed especially polythene bags but they failed to consider other plastic used for other purposes which is essential and everyone is proud of the plastic ban. They think the plastic ban will solve our problems. But the main problem does not lie with the plastic; it’s what you choose to do with it that’s the problem.

Plastic is not only a very essential part of our day-to-day life but also solves one of the world’s biggest problems like world hunger. In ancient India, people used to use heavy mud and glass vessels to preserve their food but it had one major drawback that food would be preserved for a limited period of time. Plastic is now solving one of the biggest social problems like hunger. Food Packets, emergency disaster management kits etc contain plastic in one way or another.

Today, 90 percent of our food comes in plastic packaging which keeps it fresh and edible. If the scenario happened with non-plastic packaging, it would have two major drawbacks.

1) It gets very bulky and non-hassle free
2) Food gets deteriorated quickly.
Plastic ensures fresh food at a cheaper rate on their table and also at a much faster rate, forbidden use of plastic will result in a shortage of necessary goods which’s primary form of packaging is plastic.

Plastic can accelerate the process of eliminating world hunger. Therefore, it’s important to educate people on the importance of it.

Plastic is also one of the strongest materials when used properly, it contributes to electronic and mechanical fields and also proves to keep sensitive hospital equipment disinfected from outside molecules.

The problem does not lie with plastic but with people and how they dispose of it. Plastic is harming the environment when there is no proper disposal. By recycling, dissolving or investing in biodegradable plastic ensures that plastic is not a curse but a blessing to us.It is very essential for common people to be educated about the proper disposal of plastic.

HOW CAN YOU RECYCLE PLASTIC?
1.Segregate your waste
This step is very important as the majority of Indian households fail to do this. Keep all the plastic in one bag for further simplification.

2.RecyclingCenters
It takes a minute to Google recycling centres near you where they undergo a process to make the recycled plastic, which is much more efficient and cost-effective.
