Ever since we were children, we have always been told that space was empty. This is also been proved as space is a vacuum area that is why air, which is one of the fundamental matters does not exist there. But now we have progressed enough to prove that what we know is not true. I say this because recently there has been a discovery of a different matter which exists only in space. It is called the DARK MATTER.

What is even more interesting to know is that the matter that we know of only covers around 5% of the universe. 25% of the matter in this universe is Dark Matter and 70% is Dark Energy.

What is matter? Matter is a substance which can occupy space. Recently we have discovered that the space s we know of is not empty. It is filled with some kind of matter. You must be aware that space consists of clusters, galaxies and solar systems. But why do they even clamp together? If due to big bang energy sources were scattered all over the universe, then it should have been placed randomly, not form galaxies and solar systems. The reason for all this is DARK MATTER. Dark matter is a type of matter which offers an opposite operation as compared to gravity. When something comes under the field of gravity, it is attracted towards its core. However if something comes in contact to dark matter, then it is repelled. This has been proven because there are some areas in space through which is light is passed, it completely bends around it. This signifies that there is something in the space that we do not know of. Actually dark matter was somewhat discovered in 1929. An American astronomer named Edward Hubble observed that the light frequencies which come from distant galaxies were more in the red spectrum as compared to the light frequencies from the nearby galaxies. This signifies that the Universe was expanding as time passed. Now it has been proven that universe is truly expanding exponentially. The reason why universe is expanding is because of Dark Matter. Since dark matter expels whatever comes nearby them that is why it is repelling all the stars in the universe.

There is very little we know about dark matter today. We know that
1.It is not a black hole.
2.It affects gravitation.
3.It is not antimatter.
4.It exists all over the universe.
Dark matter affects all the universe. Previously we assumed that universe in truly infinite. Now we know that it might not be so. Dark matter is responsible for the expansion of the universe means that universe is NEARLY INFINITE, which means that it is just a finite volume which is humongous in size so it appears infinite. But if that is so, what exists beyond space? Is the concept of multiple universe true? All this can be answered with the study of dark matter.
