Are you a person who is obsessed about GOT or have a friend who goes crazy over GOT? Even if you belong to that ‘Am I the only person who hasn't seen a single episode of GOT' group, this article might let you know why is GOT hyped so much.

No matter if you are a person who runs away from GOT spoilers or that mean person who spoils GOT for others, give it a read?

This article is purely a subjective perspective of a GOT fan who tries to apply media psychology here like she always does. Apart from the nudity and the aggression which gains our attention, here’s why that I think GOT is a tremendous hit.

Evolutionary Perspective

In psychology, there's an evolutionary perspective which explains that genes transmission happen across generations and explain our current behaviour. When early man lived a nomadic life, it was only normal and understood that the powerful survived. Only the powerful were able to hunt food, maintain the control over land and acquire a mate. Survival of the fittest has been stressed over and over in our history. As days moved on we evolved to be civilised but the need to exhibit the power to survive lies dormant in our genes till now.

GOT revolves around the same concept of acquiring power and our dormant gene evokes our interests to the show.

Strong Female Characters

Never underestimate the role of strong female characters, after all, it is the lioness that goes on the hunt and brings back prey to the family. Got has portrayed female characters beautifully. Be it the role of a knight, an ambitious girl, a witch, powerful queen, an old lady with sarcasm, a young brave queen, or a manipulative rooting queen. GOT absolutely wooed the audience with the way it portrayed women.

Realism and Marvel

GOT strikes a balance between being brutally realistic and sometimes unrealism is used wherever necessary.

The realism is when the characters are being portrayed as neither good nor bad (Not talking about Joffrey or Ramsay, God they need serious therapy) and as acting upon the situation, which a lot of soap opera fails to take account of.

Unrealism or the things which marvel us is inserted here and there in the show.
Be it the dragons, the Red woman, Bran and his visions stalking on other people's privacy and the Night King with his dead army, we have always been curious about things we cannot point out a reason to and take fancy in supernatural things.

The rise of the down-trodden

We all believe that hard work and determination makes us reach heights.Based on that the show shows how Jon Snow rises to height being a bastard and how Tyrion Lannister being a dwarf and constantly hated by his father moves on to gain a remarkable place for himself. One need not even mention Danerys who was sold to a Dothraki. Be it the way Varys explains his flashback, Grey worm being acknowledged GOT ‘s way of explaining the rising of the oppressed is succulent.

You know who scores

What do we say to the God of Music?

Thanks for Ramin Djawadi

Yasssss it is ‘THE MAN' Ramin Djawadi.Never in the history of Television have we not skipped the title songs to move to the episode.

But GOT’s title song is an exception.People relate to music more than anything and music always has a way of exaggerating or intensifying the way we feel. Music makes the audience to feel the show vehemently.

Djawadi’s music makes me feel as if I am a queen when Khaleesi rides a dragon. Well not to mention the background score before Cersei’s trail at the end of season 6 or the entire last part of the most watched episode ‘The Long Night'

It would be a lie if you say that you don’t hear the songs ‘The rain of Castamere’, ‘Never Wanted to Leave’, ‘The Night king’ on loop. Well if you hadn’t then you must.

If deaths can be poetic then you know who to blame. Ramin Djawadi. Hail the name.

Relationships

Be it the unconditional parent’s love which the Stark couple and Cersei exhibit, the siblings love (not talking about Jaime’s incest) of the Starks and the Lannisters, the selfless friendship of Samuel and Jon, Daenerys and Missandei the unbounded beautiful relationship of Shireen (the little girl with greyscale) and Davos, or the lustless love of Grey Worm and Missandei from the Island ofNaath GOT also remembers to gain audiences inclination by portraying emotional connects wherever necessary. After all, we accept it or not relationships are our life breath.

The Aggressive Battles

Like the evolutionary perspective, psychology also has quite a lot of theories on aggression which is an explanation of the mere fact that humans tend to exhibit aggression to gain power, for survival and it is in our roots. We try to not to be aggressive nowadays and watching aggressive shows is a let out that way. We all must accept that we did enjoy the numerous deaths in the Battle of Blackwater, Battle of bastards and the numerous times Danerys says ‘Dracarys’.

The wait

Yes, it is how GOT makes us wait that drives us crazy. The curiousness every season’s end sets push the fans to the verge of a mental breakdown. Few fans have been following the show since 2011, GOT is a part of their lives. I can only imagine the mental state of those who have been waiting for the release of season 8 for two years.

You might ask why is GOT so hyped. Well, you never know until you watch it. It is an emotion.
