Bhagwad Gita says, “From anger arises delusion; therefrom confusion of memory; from confusion of memory , loss of reason”; the reason gone the man is destroyed.

Whenever you are angry, try to do one thing. Go and look yourself in a mirror. What do you see? Don’t you feel your beauty has vanished? Your eyes are no longer clear but are red, your face is no longer wearing your beautiful smile but instead it looks devilish.

An angry person is just equivalent to a monster. He loses all his logics, compassion, intelligence and the only thing which stays in his mind is destruction. Irritation, frowning, resentment, revenge are all forms of anger.

However, if someone manifests slight anger for the betterment of others, it is known as “noble anger” or “righteous anger”. It is not at all bad. But when anger is the outcome of greed and selfishness, it is very dangerous. Suppose, if a mother manifests slight anger on her kid because of his mischiefs, it is not at all harmful. She has to do it. But at the same time she should be calm from inside.

Anger gains strength by repetition. If it is checked then and there, we can gain immense strength and will. When anger is controlled it transforms into positive energy which can work wonders. Energy is wasted enormously when one gets angry. The whole nervous system is shaken by the outburst of anger. The eyes become red, the body quivers, the legs and hands tremble. Instances are found of women killing their own children in fits of rage. Therefore it is very important to control anger.

Whenever there is even a little symptom of slight anger, then and there it must be nipped. If you find difficult to control anger, leave the place at once and take a brisk walk. You can even try to chant any holy mantra. Even simply chanting “om” can work wonders.

Find out the real cause of anger and try to eradicate it. Suppose, you are angry because someone has abused you, then, you must understand that have you developed four legs and tail when that person called you a dog or donkey?? No! Then why you are wasting your energy?

Slowly, a time will come when you have conquered you anger.

I will end this article by beautiful lines from Bhagwad Gita,

“One who is able to stand here on earth before casting off this body , the surges produced by craving and anger, he is harmonised; he is a happy man”.
