India Bollywood Industry is a huge sector. It is also a medium for someone to earn a livelihood and for some it is a way to cherish their dreams and passions. Bollywood sector is further divided in various fields like working in cinemas, direction, production, story writer, acting in Television etc.

Bollywood can also be called Hindi Cinema and also Bombay Cinema because acting was originated from Bombay (now Mumbai). The first silent film was made by Dadasaheb Phalke, known as the father of bollywood. the term bollywood was made by the combination of Bombay+Hollywood.

And not only Hindi language, movies are also released in marathi, gujrati, punjabi and several other regional languages.

Bollywood is not just about acting. It also include film making, music, dancers, script writers. Back stage people also play a vital role in making a movie successful. There are various genres of bollywood sector - comedy, horror, science fiction, thriller, romance, action, biography, some are based on books.

A movie which has mesmerizing songs and dances, attractive storyline, characters acting very well makes a movie super-duper hit.

Actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Tapsee Pannu, Kangana Ranaut....... and the list goes on are so successful today. They have very great acting skills.

Each friday several movies are released in cinema houses. The recent highest grossing movies are Dangal, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Padmavaat, Tiger Zinda Hai, Sanju, 3 Idiots, etc.

Every film needs to get certified by the Board of Film Certification under the Cinematograph Act, 1952.

You see a certificate before the movie commences which is very important for any film to run in a theatre. There are four types of certificates a film can get -

  1. Movie restricted to only adults is given 'A' certificate.

  2. Movie suitable for unrestricted public exhibition is granted 'U' certificate.

  3. Movie restricted to special class of people is 'S' certified.

  4. Movie suitable for unrestricted public exhibition with an endoresement of nature is 'U/A' certified.

  5. Some movies do not get certified so they are called uncertified films.

Indian cinemas have a great scope for those who want to become an actor/actress. It only needs good acting skills. Some people think bollywood as a platform for dance and singing, yes it is but not just dance and songs. There are various actors who are very good at dancing and have brilliant acting skills like Hritik Roshan but there are a few actors also who have can act nicely but can't dance or sing properly like Salman Khan, everyone knows he is very good at dialouge delivery but he can't dance well. This doesnt make him bad in bollywood. A person who want to become a part of the hindi cinema just be perfect in whatever field he chooses.
